GM's butting into PM's

I might be crazy...ok might is a strong word but I thought GM's going into post to another PM thread which they are not specifically included under that name doesn't cause a completely new PM?

Or does it cause a completely new PM, if you are under the PM in a different name? The one I am seeing the PM split into a new one, is we have a group of people under that one PM and one of my characters is one of them. But I needed to say something GM wise rather then character wise, and tried to throw a post into that PM under my GM name and it just caused it to split the PM to a new one.

I know if I go into a PM with two people who are not me in it, that it won't split the PM up into a new one. Is this supposed to happen?

Re: GM's butting into PM's

It's technically correct, but also probably an oversight. What's happening is that you are changing the participants from (GM NPC, PC, PC) to (GM, PC, PC). The GM NPC character is no longer within the list of recipients, so the list of recipients has changed, and thus it splits off into its own thread.

When a GM in other normal circumstances inserts herself into a private thread, though, it's going from (PC, PC) to (GM, PC, PC), but the primary list of recipients hasn't changed. That's why the two situations are different.

Yeah, the tooltip says anytime the list of participants changes it creates a new PM. That's what I take it to mean.
