Re: Same Colour Twice on iPad
You cannot choose the same color twice in a row with any of the Apple mobile devices. I've tried using both Safari and Chrome on my iPhone 5 and my iPod 4 and Safari, Chrome, and Firefox on my iPad and it won't work. The color you chose remains in the style box and clicking it again won't do anything. It has been brought up in the past, but if I recall correctly it seems to be an iOS-related issue, not an RPOL one.
However, since this is only an issue with using the same color twice in a row, there are a couple of workarounds. I use my mobile devices A LOT, so I've got a few tricks. Most are variations on a theme, but one or two may work better for your typing style than the others. YMMV. :)
1 -- Type out the color tags each time. This is cumbersome since on the iOS keyboards the < and > require going to the third keyboard formation. To type the closing tag you have to go from the standard to the number board (123), then to the special characters board (#+=) to get to where the < is, then back one to get the slash, then back again to get the text, only to have to go all the way back to the special keyboard to get the >.
2 -- Before typing anything else, type two quotation marks, select all with a double-tap, apply your color tags, then select all and copy the result. It will look like this: <red>""</red> This way you can paste the properly styled quotes as many times as you need them without having to go back to the style box. Just set your cursor between the quotes and type your dialogue. This seems to be the easiest way to go about it if you have a lot of dialogue separated by other text and works well for small screens like the phones and pods.
3 -- Type your post without worrying about color tags. Go back and select the first bit of text and apply your style. Go to the next bit of dialogue, highlight it and select a random color to apply. Then you go back and double-tap on the color; it will select only the word of the color, which is easy to change. I actually do this in conjunction with Option 2: I paste the color tagged quotes and if I need to change the color I just change the color in the pasted setup. It's easier than typing the entire tag from scratch every time.
4 -- As with Option 3, only select the color similar to it in the color choices. If your desired color is Green, you can choose DarkGreen next, then go in and delete the "dark" from the tags. Alternately, your color could be DarkGreen and you choose Green and add "dark" to each tag. Capitalization doesn't matter, which makes it a little easier to manage. This is about as easy as Option 3, but sometimes saves time in changing the color names.
5 -- After you've typed your dialogue and applied a color, select the closing color tag (</color>) and copy it. Then you can paste it front and back of each place you want to apply that color to. Just remember to delete the slash from the opening tag! (it should look like this: <color>"Text"</color>, not this: </color>"Text"</color>)
6 -- Type your post, apply the style to one piece of dialogue, make sure your character name is selected (if you play multiple characters), and then hit the Preview button. This resets the style button to "styled text:" and you can then select another piece of dialogue to color the same color as the previous one. Again, it's cumbersome, and if you have bandwidth problems can be a real pain, but it is an option.
