RTJs Visible After Rejection from a Game

I don't know if this is possible, but could the original RTJ threads be left visible to user once one has been dropped from a game?

I've had to drop players from a game and wanted to leave them a message when I did, but if someone isn't part of the game they won't see PMs.  I'd like to be able to leave a final word (whether it's "good luck elsewhere" or "don't darken our doorstep again"), but PMing them keeps them on the roster until I know they've checked.  I think it would be nice to be able to leave someone a note on their original RTJ so that they would know but still clear them from my roster.

I was thinking that since the RTJs are a way for non-players to communicate with the GMs before joining a game, it might be possible to make them visible to the user after they've been kicked out.  It'd be especially useful for GMs who aren't game owners, since doing anything by rMail requires revealing their usernames.

Re: RTJs Visible After Rejection from a Game

Anyone who has a PM in the game will still see replies to their RTJ, even if they have been removed from the game -- just as they can see responses to the RTJ even if they have been added.

Re: RTJs Visible After Rejection from a Game

I tried that, and it didn't work.  I asked one of my players to let me boot them and then asked if they could still see their RTJ.  They insisted that they couldn't and had to submit another RTJ to get back in.  Once I added them they could see the old one, but only then.

If they're supposed to be able to see it, then I think I found a glitch.  :)

Re: RTJs Visible After Rejection from a Game

This is my experience as well as a player; I never have had access to any PMs, original RTJ or otherwise, once I've left a game.

Same. I've left/Been Removed from games but wanted to keep the character. Unfortunately once I'm out of the game I cant see any of my previous PMs.

Re: RTJs Visible After Rejection from a Game

By design, RTJs are migrated to your character once you're added to a game.  The posts are still recorded under your account name, but the owner is changed to your character as that's who you now access the game as.

As a result, the RTJ moves around with the character from that point on.

Re: RTJs Visible After Rejection from a Game

Is it possible to have RTJs go back to the user, or would that just be too much work?

Edit: From a game standpoint having the RTJ migrate to the character name is much more important than it going the other way around.  :)

There's still rMail directly to the user. If you want to copy+paste the original RTJ first you can do that.

As a gm I just usually Pm someone saying: "This is a notice you will be removed either after a reply or in x hours."

In reply to kouk (msg # 8):

Yes, and as I mentioned above if you're the main GM that's fine, but if you're a co-GM then you're revealing your RPOL username, something some people don't like to do.  Everything has a workaround; this would just be the easiest way to do it for the GMs maintaining the game and saying goodbye to players.

Re: RTJs Visible After Rejection from a Game

I was under the impression that if you post a reply to an RTJ PM after removing a player it bumped the PM back to their account name and they could see it.
Or has that changed?

Re: RTJs Visible After Rejection from a Game

From memory RTJ requests used to end as soon as a player was added to a game, they weren't locked but they couldn't be added to anymore as the sender wasn't valid (you're either a player or not, so once you were added as a player you couldn't respond to a non-player thread).

GMs and players didn't like it, players wanted to "inherit" the thread to fall within their character's control, which I did.  As such any RTJ requests are migrated to within the character, and can be added to after that as the character.. thus they can't be separated out.
