I've found myself wondering this, and I just can't seem to figure it out. It's a group that people can only be a part of if they're not part of any other group, they can't post in it, and lurkers can't be it

Am I missing some obvious application here?

As a holding-pen for new (or retired) characters, is one purpose.

Or for players that you still want in the game, but you might not want them posting anywhere until you've had a chat with them about something (they can still talk to the GM via PMs).

Think of it as "time out".  :)  The RPoL equivalent of "Go to your room!"

I also use it for players who appear ostensibly to have withdrawn or dropped out of the game, but I don't think it's time to remove them permanently yet.

New question on this issue:  If I post in Group Z, is that public?  Or is that as private as the other groups?

It works the same as any other non-public group, only people with access to the group can read it.

I use it to keep all the GM only stuff, so it's useful :)

groups Public and 0 are the only public groups
