Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

I saw there was a "Private to not <character name>"; does "Secret to not <character name>" work as well?

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

Yep.  All the same rules apply, it's just the output that differs.

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

Can you check this please?

I made a post that was to show each player the other character's portraits, but not their own, and a player said they could see them all.

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

With "not" you need to be careful.  Any typo in the character name/format will allow everyone to see the contents.

Example
{secret to not ninthbit: this is a secret}
vs
{secret to not nintbit: this is not a secret}

{} used since the code tag apparently doesn't escape secret :(

Side note: Shouldn't "code" escape ALL other tags?

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

Yeah I have checked the spelling carefully.

{Secret to not Fain: <img src=http://rpolportraits.shannara-rose.com/mmc645.jpg> }{Secret to not Njordin: <img src=http://rpolportraits.shannara-rose.com/mmc708.jpg> }

Njordin:
I see my portrait as the second pic

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

If this is like spoilers, then it wouldn't work for pictures since the invisible part is made that way by meshing the color of text with the background.

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

No Secret to character is like Private to character, but without the annoying aftertaste giveaway markup.

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

Secret lines, like private lines, aren't coloured to hide them, they just not there if there not supposed to be there.

It's "Secret to " first and foremost, then whatever names (including "not") you want.

I believe I found the error, there was on instance of the variable $secret_to using a capital S, and variables are case sensitive, so it wasn't evaluating properly.  Should be better now.

Ironically, that would be "jase", with a lower case "j".  :)

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

What if you wanted a secret or private line to only be viewed by 2 or 3 players or groups?  Would you just place a "," between the names as in

"["Secret to group Team 1, Team 2: text here]

Or would I need to send the messages to each group separately?

Semi-colon.  Use the "multiple recipients" option and you'll see how it's done.

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

The text is still there?  Would a look at the page source show hidden text?  I thought those tags meant the server didn't parse the text and display it unless your character matches the one the tag is meant to be displayed to.

Re: Is there a "Secret to not Character?"

As the GM you see everything.  The page is created specific to the user viewing it, so the text does not exist for those without the proper permissions.   Only the secret individuals and the GM would be aware of it.
