Is it a feature or a bug that, when the game owner archives even one thread, the threads filter stops working for the game owner, and all threads, including archived ones, are always displayed no matter how he sets his filter?

I just tried this myself. I set the filter to only show Group 0, and got just that -- nothing but Group 0 threads.

Then I archived one old thread. I set the filter to only show Group 0, and saw only the Group 0 threads plus the archived thread (which is in Group A).

It's a feature !  :>

Yes, it has been remarked upon - the winning answer was that "the point of archiving a thread is that it then becomes visible to everybody, no matter what Groups they have access to" per link to a message in this forum

Though there is a proposal in RPoL Development to modify that either by checkbox to exclude or a separate "Archives" option for the filter per link to a message in another game

In reply to Skald (msg # 3):

It would seem, then, that archived threads had best not contain adult content?

(Seems like it would be the safe way to go...)

It's not clear whether archived threads are publicly visible or just visible to all players and the GM if they're in a group not visible to the public.

I believe they're visible to everybody.  If I switch off my Modhood, I can still see them.

Well, I don't want to get banned for saying this, but that's entrapment in terms of ToS violations unless you make it VERY clear to GMs of Adult games right up front.

My concern has shifted to the fact that GMs running Adult games are likely completely unaware that archiving a thread containing Adult content causes them to commit a grave violation of the RPoL ToS without having any awareness whatsoever of having committed the violation. While technicalities can be relied upon to assert that those GMs are duly notified by the ToS, I consider those to be mere technicalities as there is no clear and explicit noification of this risk.

Actually - I expect all Adult Game GMs to be grown ups, make themselves aware of the rules  and the way the site works - and then to take responsibility for themselves, their actions and their games.  I don't expect GMs of Adult games to need stuff handed to them on a plate, like they are kids.

TBH, if they are not prepared to take responsibility for understanding hoiw the site works, I wonder whether they should they really be running Adult Games,

Now that adult access is controlled by the system, there is no reason to worry about getting banned for mistakenly archiving threads (so long as the Group is not 0 or Public) in an ADULT classified game.

Noone without adult access will be able to see the archived thread content without requesting, and being approved for, adult access.

Problem solved.

(I tested it using a test game, and the RPoL Moderator account which does not have any special privileges).

If they are revealing adult content in a non-adult games, yes, they will find themselves in hot water, and deservedly so.

Archived content in Group 0, which should not contain Adult material, is visible whether archived or not.

Archived content in private groups (1+) triggers the 'request adult access' screen and does not reveal thread content if the reader does not have adult access already.

Looks like jase had already covered the bases. :-)
