Here are the steps for creating your character:
- Roll eight ability scores and keep six. You may only have one score of 18; if you get multiple, just drop the extra score of 18 and get a free Expert-level magic item instead. All dice rolls have to be in the game dice roller.
- Stat up your character, rolling hit points as normal.
- For wizards, consult the DM to see how many spells you start with in your spellbook.
- Equip your character with any mundane equipment from the Basic or Expert books, in reasonable numbers (i.e. you can't have a Bag of Holding with 1,000,000 flasks of oil). The DM reserves the right to challenge selections.
- Propose one permanent magic item from the Expert Rules and two magic items from the Basic Rules. If your character is a caster and you want consumables, take only one magic item from the Basic Rules and select five scrolls from either Expert or Basic rules or one wand from the Basic rules.
