arranging Player List

does anyone know  how-if..you can arrange the player list?

I do not  keep inactive players in my game, but  I do have a  couple names  who made the game good, that RL has  taken away ( some..their life)

I keep those  names there  as a 'ring of honor  ' kinda  thing. Is there a way, I can move names...put them all in some kind of  category , so they aren't in with the active players, But  can still be seen when  folks click on the list?

I think the names show up alphabetically.  One way I have seen is to add a tilde or * at the front of the name, and that should sort them after the others.

neat! I'll try that. Do we know if it will effect, if the player can still 'get the posts ?"

there  a pair, I know that are...sadly, gone. another  couple check in  the game from time to time. Sorta like old teammates, coming into the locker room...so..i would like them to still have the  board 'light up' when posts happen, if they are reading.

I think as long as they are still assigned to the characters, they will still get notified when there is a post to a group the character belongs to, or a PM.

very good.. I will try this later on. I am hoping to  have them in one area, so when I, or other players, check on activity, they can see the active players,  as opposed to the list being broken up but    names that haven't accesses for a couple  years.

They'll show all together under The Cast, as it recognizes special characters. I used an underscore _ to begin each character's name for a second group so that they'd all wind up together.

However, the special character is ignored on the Character Details list and at the bottom of the Post a Reply window. In those two cases, they are listed alphabetically as if the special character isn't there.

The other control you have is the Group Setting. If I'm not ready to delete a character, for whatever reason, I changed its Group setting to U, so it's around, just doesn't show up to others, except under The Cast list.

If want these players to be able to read all posts, then they have to have access to all Groups. If you want them to not view certain threads, they change those threads to a Group the Missing Players don't have access to.

Thanks Starmaster. I know the  group edits.

I have  3 players  that are  eitghervery sick, or have  nasty RL problems.. they are hoping to return..so I like them to be able to still see the  posts light up, if.when they get a chance..i notice that they check in   weekly or a bit less.

Inactives, that do not give me a heads up? I have  no problem just cutting.

My issue is trying to  put all the  'on hold  folks' in a list, or as Houdini said..have them appear together, so other players can see if/when the other characters  were on.

I just change them all to NPC status so they're in the NPC list instead... it's still assigned to their accounts, so they can view and post as normal if they want. I wouldn't mind if there was a way to make more categories within the cast list.

yeah, Nerwen. That's what I was hoping  for..so we, as GMs  could sort out  the players and characters more neatly.

Yes, that was another option... using Tags. However, it only sorts on NPC and non-NPC category. I use those to identify PCs in different groups. On my JAGSS board, I have five different adventures going, so I wanted to keep the characters all straight.

On another board, I use Tags to keep track of the crew of the ship.

But, as I said, it doesn't sort on it, so they aren't grouped together. For ease of viewing, though, you can start a character's name out with 3 underscores. It's a bit like indenting. Thus you could make a distinction between the 'tentative' NPCs and the actual NPCs.
