spoiler a pic?

Hi there,
is there any command line I could use to "spoiler" a picture? When I use the <spoiler> button on the list below, it shows the embedded picture immediately. Thanks for any help!

No, there isn't.  The <spoiler> tag works by simply changing the text colour to match the background, and won't work for anything but text (and if you change the colour of the text within the spoiler it won't always work).

You could always just post a link to the picture, rather than displaying it in the post, so people would have to click the link to see the image.  Almost the same as using <spoiler> tags.

In reply to jimlafleur (msg # 5):

Well then, you can say,

"In my defense, the spoiler tag basically does the same thing."

since it just says "hover to see" instead of a URL. ;)

If you want to get real fancy, maybe by carefully editing the picture file to some kind of clear format and a color that matches your background, they can have to highlight it in order to see anything?

I'd just tell them to deal with the link though.

kouk:
a color that matches your background

That won't work, because everyone determines their own color scheme.

Re: spoiler a pic?

You could re-render the picture as ASCII art?

Spoiler for Lonely Tower: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)

Wow, nice ASCII art!

Players can like or dislike, it's the DM's world...

Right, I use Pictures from the first post onwards so my Players know what to expect. I think it is a great Thing to illustrate Events.

The ASCII art is great, btw!

For now I just waited after everyone had logged in and most likely seen my post and linked the Picture then.

As for pictures. I tend to create a "players aid" thread that have the pictures of specific things. For example the player received a sloppy, hand drawn, map that was covered in blood. If you looked closely at the picture there were indications of hidden things (doors and such). It wouldn't work as well by simply telling them, this was a completely visual clue.

By putting it in a separate thread it allowed the players to 1. Reference the clue at any time. and 2. Ignore it if they wanted to.

In reply to Mrrshann618 (msg # 13):

I agree that visual clues are awesome. In one of my games I used a photo I found very evocative and used it as an encounter for some characters, and it felt very rewarding to have them look at the picture and use their brains to see what there was to be seen. Much better than simply telling someone.
