Player generated threads?

I couldn't find an answer to this question and I couldn't find a better place to ask it, so here goes:

How can I configure my game to allow players to create their own threads?  Is that possible on RPOL?

Thanks!

Re: Player generated threads?

In reply to iamtim (msg # 1):

AFAIK they can't. You as GM are responsible for creating threads, and controlling who can access them by assigning a group number to each thread.

Re: Player generated threads?

If anybody needs to make threads you could always assign them GM or Editor Access.

Why not just have them tell you what they need made?

Re: Player generated threads?

I ran a couple of PbP games on dedicated phpbb servers; on these games I could set up a forum which represented a location.  Players could post their own threads - each representing a scene - in those forums whenever they wanted to do so.

It allowed the players freedom to kind-of... do their own thing if they weren't involved in one of my plot-lines.  It worked out real well.

I was trying to recreate that here.  The best I've come up with so far was creating a thread for each of the locations, letting the players riff in those threads however they want.  It just gets confusing when multiple scenes have run in that thread or if two players want to do different scenes in the same place at the same time.  But if that's the best I can get, I'll have to make it work.

Thanks for the responses!

Re: Player generated threads?

There is a game wiki that could possibly be used.  It does allow the GM to assign people who can edit and they can create new sub threads.

Also, if you create a few generic Location 1, Location 2, threads you could name them after they start getting used and Recreate another generic new one.

Re: Player generated threads?

In a game I'm running, everyone has their own Barracks bunk. I just set up the posts with each of the players' names.

Re: Player generated threads?

easiest way is set up a thread I think using the players name then they can edit it and stuff on their own. I know it's a trick my mom taught me for setting up home threads to make them look cleaner or even businesses. Don't see why it can't work though for any thread.
