Neat! Do Easy Tables, or standard RPoL Tables work?

Don't know, sorry. Never thought of it. Easy enough to experiment though.

Re: Game Wiki

I can confirm easy tables don't work on the wiki, tried to post a character sheet template using one just the other day.

Re: Game Wiki

I couldn't get proper tables or most of the formatting available on the wiki to actually work. It might have been repaired a bit by now though. I'm gonna go check.

EDIT: okay, I'm not sure what formatting potions were added, but tables still don't work, neither does the <small> tag.

Errr... ah, they work for me.  (c;

(And easy tables/grids work as of the last update.)

Re: Game Wiki

okay, so they're working for me now. I'll try clearing my cache when I load the other computer again ^^;

easy tables also work but they don't work with the [[Link|name of link]] form of links because the | in the tag confuses it. It looks like you need to use <a href> or just [[link]].

Re: Game Wiki

In reply to Tileira (msg # 28):

I would recommend sticking with either our custom RuBB code, or Creole.  I know the [[link]] format is nice and easy but mix'n' matching will probably just cause grief, as you just found out the hard way.

(P.S.  I might have fixed small and tables after you mentioned it.  Might.  Not admitting any guilt here!)

Re: Game Wiki

Does wiki table code for tables in a game's wiki?
{|
!header
!header
!header
|-
cell || cell || cell
|-
columnspan=2cell that spans two columns
3rd cell in that line
}

Re: Game Wiki

I believe {| and |} is used by Mediawiki, another custom wiki, RPoL doesn't support that format.  Use our own easy table/grid format, or the html-esque <table></table> format.

Re: Game Wiki

One major wiki tool that seems to be missing (or at least I haven't found it yet) is to have titles and sublinks within a page. The let you have a directory at the top of the page, linking to sections within the page; or when linking from a different page, link to a section within the target page rather than just the top of the target page.

I know how to do these in HTML, and I know how to do these in two other Wiki systems; what I can't seem to figure out is how to do these in the RPoL wiki.

Main question is how to make the section tag within the page. HTML "name=" does not seem to work.

Re: Game Wiki

How about external links?  The RPOL RuBB code nor Creole markup are parsing external links correctly.

External Linking errors

I found that when using Google Chrome and placing an external ink in a wiki page, followed by text and a second external link the links are improperly displayed as one giant link including all the text in between.

TheĀ <a href="http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Asari">Asari</a>, native to the planetĀ <a href="http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Thessia">Thessia</a>,

displays as:

The Asari</a>, native to the planet <a href="http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Thessia">Thessia,

Where everything from Asari to Thessia displays as a giant broken link. However, Asari and Thessia should be separate external links to different wiki pages on the directed wiki.

Also,

You can place an image in the wiki link and it displays as a clickable image/link. But placing two image links on one page causes an error where only the windows img default logo shows. Wierd.

[[Title|<img src="LOCATION">]] -> shows clickable image leading to the Title page.

Re: External Linking errors

My suggestion is that we have a page in "Heaven" that is an RPoL Wiki Guide similar to the one Kuok has above, along with any other helpful things--in other words, a permanent place to reference for the Wiki.

Under FAQs might work as well, but I thought Heaven would be more apropos.

Re: External Linking errors

Unless Jhael would like to volunteer and maintain such a list (given the tendency of games to be rather fluid) ...

I would suggest that anyone wanting to create and maintain such a resource create their own game for it, and advertise in WP to let others know it exists and promote it that way.

Good point.  I always access the Wiki from inside the game, which doesn't take me to the main Wiki page.  I didn't even know it existed... :)

Re: External Linking errors

I know there are rules about "advertising" and posting links to games but if someone has a general question and it can be answered best by information one has within their game wiki, can you post a link to it?

For example, within my game wiki I do already have a section for my players with tips on how to edit and create the wiki pages.

That would count as advertising the game, and the link would be removed from the post.

In reply to CosmicGamer (msg # 45):

You could always rmail the person, let them know that you think that you might be able to show them what to do as you've done it with your own wiki, and then wait for them to ask you for the link if they're interested.

Re: External Linking errors

Is there any way to make tabs within a page on the wiki? Neither [[tabview]], nor <tabview> seem to work to set the stage, as it were.
