Re: Facebook?
It's been discussed before...with very little enthusiasm. I think a lot of it has to do with the conflicting underlying philosophies between RPOL and Facebook, which I mentioned before...
RPOL goes to great lengths to maintain user anonymity. At no time are you asked to use your real name, provide information about where you're from...unless you're verifying your age for participation in Adult games, you aren't even asked for age information. The only people who know anything about who you are, personally, are people that you tell, yourself.
Facebook is CONSTANTLY pestering users to add more details. Where are you from? Where did you grow up? Where was this picture taken? What movies do you watch? Do you know this person? Do you like this band? What's your phone number? And you have no idea who's looking at all this information or what they're planning to do with it.
Don't get me wrong...I'm on Facebook, too, and I use it a lot. But the two approaches to the question of user identity are antithetical. Facebook users are a commodity to be used in order to maximize appeal to advertisers, where RPOL users aren't used for anything other than running games and giving feedback on how to make the site run more smoothly.
So, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an official RPOL page. I think, at one time, someone was talking about creating an unofficial RPOL users page...but that whole question of protecting user anonymity put the brakes on it in a big hurry. A very few users were very enthusiastic about it...but the vast majority of people that were involved in the discussion (as I recall it) said they wouldn't join such a group, because they value their anonymity here too highly to compromise it there.
