Bumping an Ad

I had an ad for my game that was posted last June.  I need to advertise again, but I am being referred back to the June ad.  I can't figure out how to bump it, and the system won't allow a new ad.

What do I do?

Re: Bumping an Ad

To bump an ad, you simply have to post a reply to it.  That will automatically bump the thread.

Re: Bumping an Ad

I'm having a similar problem.  I tried bumping a thread of mine, but it said b/c there's been no reply in a week, it won't bump.  What gives?

Re: Bumping an Ad

In reply to PsychoJester (msg #4):

If it has been less than a week since the thread was last bumped (or since it was created) the system does not allow it to be bumped (though messages can still be posted in it).

The warning message actually says that the thread won't be bumped because it has not been more than a week since the last post.

Greetings

I've tried the above method several times over a three month period without success. I've also tried tagging the opening the Edit Thread, tagging the bump box and opening the Message editing it and taging the Bump and Notice boxes with the same result. Do you think the computer hates me???

Edit Thread, Bump and Notice are not available in the public forums.  Editing an existing message (in any way) will not bump the thread, you have to add a new message.

Looking at your ad in Wanted - Players, it has never, as far as I can see, had a reply posted to it.

Re: Bumping an Ad

Thanks have posted another reply to the original, wasn't sure the previous post worked so refrained from posting more.

As far as I can see, you still haven't posted a reply to your ad thread.

So let's just check - you are posting in your Wanted - Players forum thread, to bump the ad?

Re: Bumping an Ad

Don't feel too bad...I was saved from all kinds of public embarrassment by the fact that the friend who introduced me to the site also knew me RL, so I could ask all kinds of odd little questions about how to do stuff that my oh-so-observant eyes were completely missing (like how to even reply to a thread in the first place!)

It's part of the learning curve...sometimes the self-explanatory doesn't speak as clearly to some of us as others.  *grin*

Re: Bumping an Ad

Oh Me oh my...

I don't think I'm cut out for this,

On the 10 October I opened my game to the public, in the Wanted Players list with the 'To play or not to play' heading. I have bumped it once, then changed the title to 'Come one come all To play or not to play' and tried to bump it again. It seems to have dissappeaed from the Wanted Players list What have I done now Chief...

Re: Bumping an Ad

I just searched the forum for any threads you authored...found your 'to play or not to play' post, no problem, and it's the only one by you that's in the W:P forum.  So, it's still there, under the original title.  Not sure what's happened to cause you to be unable to find it.

Re: Bumping an Ad

Be sure that when hunting for you own ads you use the "Search" link at the lower left.  Search for your own user name with the radio button for "Poster" ticked.

That should be a relatively flawless way to find your own ads (unless you misspell your own name :-)).

Re: Bumping an Ad

Hi. Sorry to bother but I tried to bump my advertisment for my game in the "Players-Wanted" thread, and even though the new message shows up with today's date and time, the actual thread has not bumped, and its listing in the forum still shows the date and time of my FIRST post. It has been a week, but I'm wondering if I have to wait for the exact time I posted it last week, or I just did something wrong. This is my first time using an ad so I'm a little confused.

Thank you for the help.

Re: Bumping an Ad

Hi folks, I have asked this before, I think.

I have  3  games on site, 2  are a lot slower then the other, but all 3 have been around  for  almost 3  years.

Is there a away I can delete the 'help wanted' so I can make a fresh, new ad? Right now  I just C&P when I update.

Re: Bumping an Ad

Not really.  But one helpful thing to do is to delete all the posts except the first and most recent.  That will condense them for those who look at your ad, so they don't see a lot of posts there.
