In an effort to get better compliance with our site Adult Games policies, we're asking those of you who play Adult games on RPoL to pledge to do two things:

1)  Always include your age and legality-to-view statements in your RTJ to an adult game, whether the GM has asked you for them or not.  They're always required before a player can be added to an Adult game, so adding them out of habit just helps your GM (and us Site Moderators) out.  Using this wording would be best:

I am <years> years old, born on <day>/<month>/<year>.  It is legal for me to view adult content in my current place of residence.

2)  If you are interested in an Adult game but it does not appear the GM is requiring age and legality statements from applicants, remind them about our site rules.  A friendly warning from an interested player would likely always be more welcome than a visit from irritated Site Moderators further down the road.

If every person who decides to play Adult games on RPoL does these two things, it would cut down considerably on the amount of time Moderators must currently spend bringing Adult games into line with our requirements.

I always make this pledge when I play or run adult games. It is important for the players to comply to. Not all want to give out the birthdate for instance. This to me...is how I can rest assured you are in fact of legal age to view adult material.

This is a great idea to be proactive as a player in submitting an RTJ!  I don't pledge, but I will do my best to state that I comply whenever I RTJ from now on.

In one of my games, the GM was not following the rules, so I sent a message on it and pointed out the relevant sections to read.  The GM responded promptly, so I was glad.  It wasn't even awkward, either.  The GM didn't seem to mind.

When I turn 18 in three months, I pledge to follow these rules to the letter.

I'll help with this.  I like rpol and am willing to help make things easier for the staff.

I pledge to give my age & legality information to the GM(s) of any adult games I apply to without waiting to be asked.  I also will remind any GM who does not ask for the information in their particular game information/joining threads that they need that information.

I also pledge to ASK for age/legality statements from any players who request to join any adult game I run, and to not add anyone (including my husband ;) ) to the game without getting their statement.

   Since I'm forty two, I have no problem stating my age, date of birth and legal eligibility in an RTJ thread.  I pledge to do so whenever I request to join an adult game.
   As a GM, I also pledge to request this information from all players before allowing them into an adult game.  I also pledge to not play in any game where the these requirements are not being upheld.

Honestly, the few times I've run Adult games, I've made it a personal policy (since I make sure to include that as part of the initial RTJ process) that if a player doesn't give me that info, they get one warning; if their very next post doesn't have it, and a good excuse why they didn't have it the first time, I do not allow them to play... period. Even if they have the best character idea in the world. Doesn't matter.

Yeah, making your age declarations here really isn't much use at all.  The notion here is to publicly vow to abide by the age restrictions for adult games and to encourage others to do the same if you happen to come across instances where age statements have not been taken or people have falsified their age declaration.  While all the age declarations have been encouraging, they are, ultimately, of little use here, because if there's a question about the legitimacy of age statements in an adult game, odds are extremely long against someone coming here to search through this thread for a corroborating age statement.

Make them in the game, as part of your initial Request-to-Join, and if your GM doesn't ask you for one for an Adult game, offer one anyway, and then encourage your GM to revise his/her policy to be compliant with site policies.

I paste the info from the first post into every game I make. I also post a link to this thread now if it looks like people can't figure it out.

It's like a marriage vow.
Means a lot to some people, less for some other people.
And the pressure is there for some people to publicly declare, though it isn't required. However if we are on rpol, we must abide by the TOU.

Maybe it's a midlife crisis issue :D

I pledge to do this. I even include or require the age verification for mature games just in case some thing happens.

I pledge to give my age along with all other required information for an adult game as well as to inform any Gm that has failed to ask for such information that it is a requirement.

I am not sure exactly why pledging to follow the delicious donut site rules is something we specificallly need to do, but for what it's worth, I pledge to follow the rules of RPoL and politely remind those who aren't to get their strawberry sundae together.

Er...okay. I require this anyway in all games, so...I pledge to keep it up, and not join adult games without giving an age statement while also gently remindng others to do so. I..don't think i've ever encountered an adult game where the GM had not figured out they need this, and put it in their RTJ requirements.

I messed it up once. The game was private and didn't have any RTJ requirements. I kept the resulting moderation rMail as a reminder of my mistake.

I started it in 2009 to remind people of our policy, but given the upcoming changes, I don't think it's going to be quite so necessary.
