CONCEPT
When the initial outbreak of the VP Virus was first discovered, the World Leaders made a rash decision in their bid to control an outbreak of what would prove to be the most deadly virus of their time, no amount of research could prepare them for what they were up against.  It was discovered in the early days of the outbreak that the primary source of the Virus was Vampires, spreading the infection through a small collective of supposed voluntary Humans which they fed upon.  The Government’s first plan of action was to release an order to all Law enforcement agencies that all Vampires had to be brought in for mandatory testing.  At first, the Vampires, abiding by the laws that were stipulated in gaining their equal rights, were compliant, but it soon became apparent that the Government’s only method of solution without a cure was to execute those that were found to be carriers.

Thousands of Vampires were culled within those first months but it was nothing in comparison to the number of Human’s that were dying as the Virus evolved from VP-1 to VP-2 and became airborne, spreading at a rapid pace.  To coincide with the catastrophic effects of the Virus, the Vampire Council called upon their Masters of all cities and ordered a complete revolt against the Governing bodies that were calling for a massacre of  their kind and the thinning of their numbers, Vampire rights were then revoked and a mass war between Humans and Vampires broke out as a result.

The Vampires used every resource at their disposal,  their major disadvantage was daylight hours where they lay vulnerable  and prone to slaughter.   No longer restrained by the Laws that allowed them to live side by side the Human population, their own linage powers came as a great advantage, too their animals to call were used in their defenses against the Militants who fought to bring them down.  The Lycans became precious commodities to opposing sides, fighting on behalf of the Vampires that forced them under their will and against a Government that had never afforded them the same respect,  finding themselves casualties of a war that wasn't even theirs.  Yet The Vampires, although vastly outnumbered, had a weapon that they knew the Humans had no way of defending, the Virus itself.  They intentionally spread the virus through their own numbers, ordered the Lycans to spread their infections; they bred new Vampires and Lycans purely as tools of destruction and as complete chaos broke out, the world as it was once known fell into complete collapse.

Cities and their surrounding areas became war zones, any survivors remaining fled to more remote areas, utilities ceased, mass mobs looted what they could to survive and it soon became a distrustful world where it was every man for themselves.   Small settlements began to appear around the country, the mixed species of Humans, Lycans and Vampires pulled together in their bid to avoid the war and survive.

The root cause of the Virus is still unknown, many conspiracy theories have arisen without proof, be it Witch Craft or Voodoo, a  plague derived from Demonic means or an ancient sickness that became extinct many millennia ago, brought to the surface once more due to the many generations that Vampires could exist.  Nobody will truly know how it came about but more importantly, nobody knows how to stop it in a world that now lacks control and order.

MOUNT ZION SETTLEMENT
Mount Zion is a settlement hidden within the crook of the mountains near Salt Lake City, a former vacation destination once popular to Mountain Climbers and Hikers. The area was initially made up of a collection of vacation cabins, a Ranger center, Diner, General store and Medical Facility, making it a prime location for those that sought refuge from the aftermath.  As their numbers grew along with the skills and experience there-in, the buildings were utilised into more suitable facilities to accommodate those that inhabited the fully quarantined settlement.

Mount Zion itself is virtually impassable from the mountain peaks that form behind the settlement, the perimeter is sealed and heavily guarded around the clock leaving only one point of entry.   Those that dwell within have a strict protocol that they adhere to, although reasonably understanding of those that seek refuge they do not welcome outsiders without absolute caution.  Only those beneficial to the settlement will be accepted, and once within, everyone has their role to fulfil, be it Engineering, Construction, Medical, Scientific or Agricultural, entrance is not gained without a series of thorough testing for any trace of the VP-2 virus and after a period of strict quarantine, the decision will be made to allow or refuse entry.
