Burning Post II - a MuD RPG

Urth is a world set in a more medieval style setting.  That is not to say this takes place in medieval earth as there are differences, and again, this is Urth.  We had a wonderful awesome King way back in the past named Dav.  Things were different than they are today.  While there is a lot of history there, for this post let’s cut it short.  After some traumatic events in Dav’s life he met the Lord of the Springs, creator of all, and learned some important tenants of how all should live.  He was the one person found worthy in the lord of the springs sight to bare this news to share with the people, to be his spokesperson so to say.

All that was said is important, but the one to take special note, the reason for the game’s name is,

Magic is a sinful act and displeases the Lord of the Springs.  Being a merciful
Creator however there is a way to be forgiven.  To be cleansed by fire, to be
Burned alive at the pyre, this will make you once more presentable to the
Lord of the Springs, and your soul will be free to travel to paradise.

Come to a world where the church holds power over the population.  The knights serve the church, to protect people from heresy, mages, and other horrors.  Here you will find reeves that protect against thieves, drunks, and any who go against the law.  Thieves of course still manage to survive and have their own group known as the brotherhood.  It is a land where right and wrong are important, yet not always as important as connections.  Being an enemy to a noble guarantee’s you problems, where as a noble who things well of you can be a boon.

MuD's are a style of rp but instead of message boards you are using a client. It's not make a post and wait a day, but smaller and faster actions and words and then waiting a few moments for your friends and then react yet again.  Telnet is a way to connect but most prefer zmud or mudlet or other clients that are still free but you download and get more helpful features (http://mudlet.sourceforge.net/)

The game is set so the computer will roll dice for you when you do things requiring it, it gives you more of a feel as you change the room you are in, houe, forest whatever.  It will tell you if raining, cold, freezing whatever.

The immortals who run the game are constantly still making improvements to the code.  Soon thieves will be able to poison their victims.  They just recently made a bunch of improvements for the mages.  A new beginners guide book is getting its finishing touches done.
The game has been running for years (I want to say 5) I've played for about a year now.  Very addicting

There are several positions that could use a few more players:
Knights and reeves are rather shorthanded
I haven't seen a bard lately
You would not be limited to these and perhaps others would suggest different venue's (I play a knight currently, I'm prejudiced)

go here: http://www.mudconnect.com/cgi-bin/adv_search.cgi  type burning post in the search bar.  There is more information there and you can log in by Telnet to check it out if you don't want to download a client

burningpost2.co.uk 4321 is the address! (if you get a client you would enter burningpost2.co.uk as the host and 4321 as the port)
