Exalted game over Skype needs more players. (Semi-Adult.)

Thanks to recent changes in Skype policy we now have the ability to do voice conference chats in Skype free. Due to this change and some other events I am running a Skype chat Exalted game. We have three players from an existing gaming group, but I intend to have a 'perfect circle' of Solars, so I would like two more people.

Due to some issues that I have had in the past let me lay down some ground rules:

1: The Exalted in general and the Solars in particular are made to be "Big Damn Heroes". If your character is all about personal vengeance and self aggrandizement this game is not for you.

2: The game begins in Chiaroscuro, so your character should have a reason to be there. Your character should also be able to function in that society without making a fool of themselves or being arrested.

3: This game is a SOLAR game, the answer to asking about playing anything else, anything at all, is "NO".

4: This game is categorized as 'Semi-Adult' due to the fact that all of the PC's Lunar spouses are going to show up one by one, but it will not be a 'Scroll of Swallowed Darkness' game: fade to black will be liberally employed. This rating is also applied due to the fact that there are liable to be things like slavery and beheadings described in the game, which also would push it towards an 'Adult' rating on this site.

5: Fifth and Finally: This game is not for 'optimizers' or 'power builders': there will be rules in place for character generation that will keep players within the bounds of reason in designing their starting characters.

If all of this sounds like something you might enjoy drop me a line at:

on Skype before next Saturday.

UPDATE #1:
After our first session, which covered mostly issues of character creation, I have the following additional information:

1: The positions still available are as follows: Zenith, Dawn.

2: In order to interdict power gaming the following restrictions are in place:
A: No skill may be taken above 4 at character creation.
B: No background which states that the Realm has 'noticed' you in any way may be taken at character creation.
C: Artifact and Manse may not be taken above 3, except for simple relatively unobtrusive artifacts like daiklaves or armor. Furthermore you may not have more than one manse.
D: Your back story cannot include already having been entangled with the Wyld Hunt or Dragon Blooded. Sidereals may only be Gold Faction.

3: Your characters will begin the game in Chiaroscuro. You also are irresistibly drawn to each other, having been one of those circles from the first age sworn to reunite after death.

4: The Cult of the Illuminated is in play, if you wish to have your character be involved with it talk to me about it and we can discuss things.

5: I may also be contacted by r-Mail here on RPoL, but the game takes place on Skype, so contacting me there might save a step.

Thank you, and good gaming.

UPDATE 2:
After a few weeks of games and a fair bit of plot all positions have been filled. Further players are no longer desired. Thank you for your interest and good luck finding a new game.

UPDATE #3: (22-1-2015)

My my how the time just whips past any more.

If you have read the initial post above you should throw everything I said out the window.

That post was made almost two and a half years ago and A LOT has changed in that time. We have in point of fact gone through two different versions of the Exalted game over that period, each one with a slightly different cast, of which only 2 are now 'origional', and now are starting version 3.

The new story, entitled "Tales of the New Road" will take place on Thursday nights between 9:30 and 1:30 EST (AKA GMT -5).

We are looking for 2-4 additional players, subject to the following restrictions.

Types of exalted allowed are as follows:

Solars: All castes except Eclipse.
Lunars: Tattooed only.
Sidereals: Gold Faction or Gold leaning Independent. ('Silver Faction' open to consideration, but would require an impressive back story.)
Abysals: Renegade Only, All Castes, including Moonshadow.
Infernals: Renegade Only, Devil Tiger aspirants welcome.

All other character types are disallowed, including but not limited to: Mortals, God/Ghost/Fae/Demon-Blooded, Dragon Kings, Jadeborn, Raksha, Ghosts, and Dragonblooded.

There is one specific exception to the above: Half Castes for Solars, Lunars, and Abyssals will be considered PROVIDED that they are intended to be played as half castes only in order to have their Exaltation happen 'IC' as it were.

As the existing characters of the game are more advanced than a typical starting character new players characters will receive some 'free' power boosters at the start of play, the universal elements of which are as follows:

Essence starts at 3 gratis.

All characters use 2.5 Solar char gen rules or their own which ever is better in each category.

Characters will be given a tailored 'power up package', such as one full MA style free or other benefits that fit their background.

Some amount of accelerated XP gain will be awarded to each character in addition to their power up package so that they can eventually be on an even footing with the established characters.

The game is taking place in the Scavenger Lands, with the characters on their way to Nathir,  which will resemble any other depictions you have had of it probably not one whit so leave your preconceptions at the door.

The game's play style is not especially combat oriented, there have been fights, and there will be more, but anyone expecting your typical Exalted combat fest is in for a disappointment. The game is also not especially social oriented, those expecting to use Socialize to make their way through every challenge are also likely to find this game failing to live up to their expectations. Rather, mystery, comedy, romance and power brokering are the order of the day, it could be argued that it is more of a social game, but in truth what it is geared towards is good RP.

If all of this sounds like it adds up to a good game for you, drop me a line via r-Mail or on skype, the old contact info is still good.
