The Adventuring Guild of Fair River is a Chat based community role-playing game that has been continuously active on IRC for the last two years. Found on the Rizon IRC server, the community is always looking for new players. Using a simple home-brew system that's easy to understand.

The premise of the setting is that all characters are members of the eponymous adventuring guild, located in the trade city of Fair River. The guild accepts a wide variety of jobs, ranging from protecting caravans and hunting down monsters to investigating disappearances and lifting curses; as such, the guild accepts a wide variety of applicants. People from all walks of life who can contribute in such dangerous circumstances join the guild, from summoners who consort with odd magical creatures to paladins of the god of justice to mercenaries looking for stable work that isn’t going to set them against an entire kingdom.
The game takes place in a renaissance-era fantasy world. Magic is commonplace, horses and sailboats are the primary modes of transportation, knights in shining armor go to war and protect the common man, guns are almost unheard of, and science is something that spoiled rich kids and isolated intellectuals work on. Kings and feudalism are common, but the merchants and other wealthy men compete with the nobility for power. The world contains no humans, elves, or similar creatures; instead the world is filled with anthropomorphic creatures of five races: cats, dogs, hedgehogs, birds, and the dinosaur-like yasho.
Unlike in most groups, rather than having set roles of gamemaster and player, anyone can come up with and run a quest for players who want to join in with their characters. At other times, the players simply roleplay out their characters’ day to day lives around the town of Fair-River without the intervention of any sort of gamemaster at all.
It should be noted that you don't NEED to an adventure to join this game. Blacksmiths, bartenders, Cooks, Clerks, cleaning staff, healers, scribes and others work at the guild for various reasons. So if you're not into gaming with rules and numbers you can easily join as a character who just hangs out in the freeform.
