Thanks, Harry, for updating everyone for me. FYI... took the computer to the shop and the guy determined that it was a software problem which might have been caused by the latest Windows Update... but I couldn't afford to get it fixed.
Today, I started up the borrowed computer and it immediately did a Windows update and... guess what? Yep. The wifi was gone after it was done.
It then occurred to me that others might have the same problem so that maybe the problem/solution was posted on the internet. So, used yet a THIRD computer to search... and found a video that offered three solutions. The first one didn't work, but the second one did; uninstall the wifi software and then reboot the computer. Neither worked for the borrowed computer though.
Now just need to get caught up.
