Ok. So when the candle goes out, Tommy will be heading back, otherwise happy to scout ahead...

As Tommy descends, the candle flickers. The air below is quite heavy and in need of purification.

"Tommy, it looks like we need a group of three -- you with your candle and whatever else, D'ne to Purify the air as we go, and me to keep D'ne from tiring out.  I've got a light, and I can make it much brighter once we've gone down a bit.  Try to help me remember to cancel the bright one before we come back up, though.  I've also got my crossbow and staff, just in case."

Dne goes along with them and casts Purify Air again.  He informs Virgilio that he won’t need recharging, so long as they stop every now and then for a five minute break.

Brunhilda follows them closely. She doesn't want to be left alone in this weird place.

when you get to the bottom of the stairs, the air is still very thick and foul to breathe, but Dne is helping tremendouisly.


The slapping creaking sounds are louder.

Syvanus is still following along quietly

Bratu follows. Getting split up usually ends poorly.

Rafik, Ulo and Hrunting are all with you as well as Rushagorn. No one seems to want to be left behind.

With their rear fairly safe, Grohm fell in behind with Syvanus.  He made sure to give him enough room to shoot his bow on the stairs.

although the air is heavy, the space you are moving into is vast - the ceiling is quite high and you can hear multiple sets of slapping and creaking sounds, but you can't see what it is with candle grade light.

"Ulo, I'd really like to have more light in here -- and while I could cast the brighter light on a bolt and shoot it, I don't want to antagonize whoever might be out there in the dark.

"Didn't I see you and Rafik with darkened spectacles for when you go above ground?"

Dne says that if need be, he could climb up high and look around from up there.

Candle, but I have night vision. I believe Brunhilda has a Helment Lantern with continual light on it.

Dne says that if someone will provide him with a light source, he'll be happy to head up and take a look, and can even purify the air up there.

Virgilio pulls a farthing out of his pouch and with his usual rehearsal, casts -- and it lights up brilliantly.  He hands the coin to D'ne, then repeats the whole process for himself, pulling his candle lantern out of his pack and placing the coin where the candle would go.

"This should be better, and we can hide these lights later, in a pouch or pocket.  They'll last for days."

Jendrich pulls the cloth Virgilio enchanted earlier, letting it hang in front of his armor.
