"Guildmaster Bleak, I am Ülo of the Western Reaches, I am here to speak for the dead of my tribe and to determine if there can be a future between this Guild and the Western Reaches.  I also represent Elder Angrid of the Eastern Reaches, however I am not representing her in this matter at the moment."

"You called Rigo?
She looks at the two trollfolk and greets them in their language.

"The city dwellers we once had trade and treaty with left.  As I now understand it they may have died during the plague?  Regardless, about three weeks ago a group of Guildsmen, your Guildsmen, entered our domain and began attacking us.  They began constructing iron gated doors in the central hub our town, cutting off our tunnels.  On the second day they slaughtered most of our warriors.  I had been ordered to lead the elderly and young away to to hide in safety until these attackers were driven off.  When the last of our warriors and leaders died, I decided to lead those who were left alive, the elderly and young, to the Eastern Reaches and beg upon Elder Angrid's beneficence.  The tribe of the Eastern Reaches agreed to take in those who would swear to become one with Elder Angrid's people."

Ülo pauses a moment and very visibly calms herself as her voice had started to rise and become a bit aggressive and ranty.

"But what came before does not necessarily concern me here and now, I am here to speak about tomorrow, and when that transpires, what shall become our present.  Those of us who have not joined the Eastern Reaches, who have not sworn to be one with Elder Angrid's tribe, who are not bound by treaty with your Guild, will be taking back the Western Reaches.  That is for tomorrow, but what shall become of it once it is today?  Will there be a place for peace between us?  That is what I am here to discuss.  The whether and what of DuClaire and the town we shall be taking back."

If DuClaire has a deed from the Hadereum, then he has rights to the property as high as heaven and deep as hell,but a good lawyer may get you some concessions there. Rabeleis del Sur may be able to help,he used to scribe for the Hadereum. "

"We're perfectly willing to end everything DuClaire is and has.  I'm here to see how important DuClaire's continued existence is to your Guild and what ramifications his death may have for any future dealings."

"Our only dealings with him dealt , one way or another, with the contents of his winecellar. The last shipment of Fortified wine was paid for, and our negotiations to allow access through your former home are still up in the air... I would be happy to negotiate with you if you were to reclaim ownership.  , but you will need to navigate your wsy through the legalities, lest some heir of DuClaire's were to surface and make a claim."

"Something seems to have gone horribly wrong on a series of expediions you organized on behalf of Monsieur DuClaire. What exactly was it that you told the Adventurers you sent on those missions?"

In reply to Rigo Bleak (msg # 23):

"DuClaire said he had a troll problem, and asked that they be cleared from the area so that his workmen could fill the cellars with wine from his ship.
What went wrong?"

"The thugs you sent to 'deal with DuClaire's problem' did so by attacking and killing the majority of my tribe, the Western Reaches.  I am here now discussing what avenues are before us and what issues there might be with the remainder of my tribe returning the favor upon DuClaire.  It sounds as though you above ground people do not respect other's property, only your own."

In reply to Ulo (msg # 25):

"I did not know that it would go this way, DuClaire expressed his approval and paid them a bonus, and then had them go down a second time.  If I had known this to be the outcome, I might not have accepted the commission. Would it improve things any if I were to remit my fees to you?"

How many might that bring back?

"Nothing short of a Great Wish or an act of the gods might bring them back."

"I am not here to seek redress, I'm here to seek a path forward when we retake our home.  Only because Syvanus," she nods to him, "spoke well of the Guild's leadership.  He convinced me that what happened had to have been a mistake on the Guild's part.  Now I'm beginning to understand things work very differently up here, your people do not have leadership the way we do."

She pauses a moment and looks mildly confused.  "No, not 'leadership', that was not the right word.  I don't know the right... way to think of it in my language that would translate properly in yours, and the magic does not supply anything but a simple translation.  This is what I've come to understand, I do not understand enough about how your people and city work, to know how to proceed.  I need to learn how your 'leadership but not leadership' functions.  How your rules and laws work."

She sighs.

"Because just killing and eating DuClaire might not work."


OOC:  The word Ülo is struggling to find is "politics".  Which for trolls probably involves an awful lot of violence.

"Final solutions are rarely final when dealing with someone with friends and relatives...Just know that wholesale murder is not tolerated on the grounds of the guild, but that as a member, you might find sanctuary here.  Some of my own allies cannot leave this place upon pain of death."

"I will look into your Guild, but I am unlikely at this time to join.  Dueling allegiances.  I do need to learn some things about this city, so I will be back.  Are there those I can learn from here, who are trustworthy?"

OOC:  Basically Ulo needs to learn Politics, Law (Northport) to at least 1 point each...  and probably pick up Dabbler: Current Affairs (Northport Bureaucracy) and Heraldry, and we're just setting up the way for it.
