Grohm'tahl followed Sylvanus and Ulo into the guild hall.  He dug into the neck of his armor and flipped out his shirt collar to show Aemon his rank badge as they entered. He has put a leather guard over the blade of his glaive, but that was as a courtesy rather than a requirement for him.

The burly half-orc smelled horrible after the encounter with the worm and he had been running on little sleep the last couple of days.  He wanted a bath, a beer and a bed, in that order.

"I am going to get cleaned up and retire to my quarters. Do you need anything from me before I do so?", Grohm asked his companions.

Basic shackles are $200, meteoric (basic) shackles are $4,000, specially designed "anti-wizarding" shackles are probably twice the regular price.

"As one who was recently held in those locks because of who and what I am..."  Virgilio has the look of one making the decision what to say even as he speaks.

"I might lend you the coin.  This seems a much more proper use of these bonds than what I was subjected to -- though I'm sure your captive would disagree.  I had never any intention of harming anyone, though.

"Let us say, I will pay the seven francs for up to a week's use, and you may owe me nine francs, to be paid when you can, but within a quarter year at most.

"Obviously, if the restraints are damaged while in your care, your group will be responsible for repair cost or reimbursement for the value we would have received for their sale -- which I understand to have been 120 francs.

Dilandua has made a different offer, which might be more advantageous to you -- or it might not, depending what you learn and obtain from it."

"The Winter Court is not so very straight forward as to 'sanction' or 'not sanction'.  Rather what's important is who owes whom, how much and most importantly, 'did their actions upset anyone more powerful than themself'.  No, what I mean by 'fighting with laws', is just that.  If it's not legal to seize their goods now over what they have done in Northport, presuming this action took place in Northport, and they live through whatever you do next, they will come for you later.  If doing so by petitioning the Haderuem is easy and satisfying, they will first do it that way.  Then once the Hadereum has taken its pound of flesh, or not as it might be, then they'll go after you personally."

Dilandua slowly smiles.  The smile does not reach their eyes.

"I'm simply angling to place them in my debt and reduce the blood animosity towards the Guild in one action."

OOC:  19:04, Today: Dilandua rolled 11 using 3d6.  Savoir-Faire (Fairie Court) 8 (skill 10 -2).

OOC:  Dilandua returned with the scrolls and spellbooks, but would have turned them over to whomever was prepared to further deal with them now that the books unlocked and scrolls freed from the ensorcelled scrollcase.

I volunteer Virgilio.

Virgilio walks over to the huge figure with the very strange eyes, clears his throat, and tries his best to bring his somewhat disturbing voice under control.

"Malga'Mar!  I'd recognize you anywhere, though you probably don't know me -- I hadn't been apprenticed yet when you left the College.

"I've left too, now, through unfortunate circumstance, but I was hoping to see you.  My friends have found some documents written in Latin, and the only ones we were sure of being able to read them are some priests -- until I remembered your legendary way with languages.

"Have you perhaps studied Latin?  And do you have the time to do some translation work for my friends?  I'm sure they'd pay the going rate."
He indicates Reanna (already disappearing up the stairs behind Ulo) and Dilandua.

He looks around for Dilandua, and waves them over.  "Dilandua, this is Malga'Mar -- Malag'Mar, this is Dilandua, a courier.

"I may be joining a group going into the Undercity tomorrow, if they'll hire me.  Dilandua is a member of our group, along with Reanna who just went upstairs, and Dne in the bird mask.  Any of them can decide whether full translation of a certain document is warranted."

Did your mum not tell you fay should not play with humans.  They smell, taste bad if you eat them and some can bite you with iron jaws.  Going around and upsetting humans never ends well for our kind.  It will come back to bite you on the bumb.

Rosewood flaps his wings.

I would answer the questions they have for you.  Unless you want one of them to put an iron thing round your neck?
Rosewood point to the manacled.  I really would not put it past them to try that on you.

Rosewood added.
They both know that minor nobles of the summer and winter courts are responsible for their retainers.  For the action of the fay they are in charge of.  Even if the actions is out of stupidity or being clumsy.  The effect their actions have on others for good or ill.
In my library.  The lead librarian was responsible for my actions.   Above her the head librarian was responsible for everybody's action in the library to the Prince of the Summer court in charge of record keeping.  Then he to the Queen herself.
Maudwyn just doing what most winter court fay do.  Try to palm of the effects of her action onto someone else.  Getting others to do her dirty work for her.

Rosewood give the frost elf an evil stare.
The question she should answer is did deliberately persuade the humans to attack the half-fay so they would kill each other?  Which under fay court rules make her directly responsible unless she was following someone else's orders?

Then in total change of tone he turns to Camilla.
Am I being helpful.  He asks.

OOC:

Lady Ambassador.  Would you help us find out why Maudwyn thought she should come to the human realm and make trouble.  Also if she is working alone.  When I took on this work I did not think one of your court was behind this.  My books from my library have taught me that such meddling between fay and humans do not often go well on both sides.  Has one of the winter court great poet says
"It is best to let rabid animal of humanity alone.  For unlike dogs.  Their bite is nastier than their bark when disturbed from their sleep.  For now their teeth are made of iron and if awake they need something to chew their teeth on."

Re: In the Guild

Rosewood added.
But lady Ambassador.  Maudwyn's action could be seem as an act of war on the humans and this guild.  Has the winter court declared war on the guild?  Revenge could be called on from both sides.  Maudwyn will hate humans and that will never change.  I am now on that list two.  But what will it gain the guild or the winter court a war.  It will only weaken you both and open you up to others taking advantage of the situation.

I can tell you now from the time I spent with humans.   Maudwyn was to continue and course one more death without justice they would rise up and find a happiness in dyeing if they new their death resulted in Maudwyn and her kind dyeing to.

As an Ambassador is it not your place to see both side of an argument and issues then find the one best for the safety and prosperity of The Winter court and it's fay.  Is open war between humans and fay ever a good thing?

As for my self.  The only reason I have courage to face you is I wish to live my exiled years in relative peace.  I do not wish to be drawn into a war.  Nothing I have ever read about war between humans and fay indicate to me that it is good for anybody in the long run.

The little fairy starts to shake.  All he want to do is go away and be left alone.  To face such an important and powerful fay is everything this little fairy hates.  However the idea of anybody else dying because of Maudwyn actions it something he cannot stand.

The little fairy wings open and close and as it does both light multi-coloured fairy dust and dark bad black fairy dust rosewood used to kill the head of the cult play along them.   The two types of fairy dust playing with each other happily.  To anybody looking this has very sinister overtones.
His eyes for a second turn totally black then turn normal.  This happens a few times.

Maudwyn's actions may have already course a long term consequences for me and my kind that would not bode well for fay and human alike.  One that only a long an peaceful life will hide.

As he is speaking the above words he looks for the first and only time directly at the Ambassador.  His eyes turning totally black from his dark fairy dust.  Then he pulls himself back.

In a quiet voice he asks.  Please Ambassador help me find peace between the two sides.  He looks down at his feet.

Re: In the Guild

Rosewood looks back up at the Ambassador.  His eyes turn totally black.
I asked once kindly and you smiled coldly at me and dismissed me and the humans.  You immortal fay have always looked down on fairy's and treated us as your play things.  Both courts have never truly valued us or our loyalty.   You did not listen.  If you keep kicking a loyal dog it grow sharp teeth and devours it's master.
Do you know one of the main reason I was kicked out of the summer court.  No.  It was so I could live in peace away from other fairies and not infect them.  I excepted my punishment because I was loyal.  To stay away from other fay and die in peace.  But it has only taken a few months for you to do to me what I promised I would try to prevent.
I will ask a second time for you to set up peace between the guild and the winter court but you should know you have already started the process I tried to stop now.  I am evolving.

Rosewood shakes again.  This time he now has same smile on his face that the Ambassador had given him.

I would love to see how your going to explain to both the Kings and Queens of both courts how you managed to force my evolution on by 10 years in 10 minutes and have freed me of my promise to the summer court Queen.  We both know how rare and how much it upset the Kings and Queens of both court to have a joint court.  But my evolution may just prompt such a meeting.  Or it may not.  Time will tell.
His grin broaden.  Oh and before you or anybody else get any ideas.  Do you know why I was not killed or imprisoned which would make sense?  It is because if I die or I am imprisoned and made miserable the dark fairy dust will find new hosts.  Yes hosts.  My death will only speed the process up.

He lifts his hands up to her with open palms and the two types of fairy dust play with him.  He smiles at the patterns they make.
You pushed me into facing what I tried to walk away from.  He then says something so quiet only she and the other two elves can hear.

Rosewood turns away.  His eyes are still totally dark and the light and dark fairy dust still play along his wings.  What happens next is on your head and yours alone Ambassador.  For dead or alive I now no longer fear the winter court or it fay.

OOC:
To the other players.  The Ambassador has pushed all the wrong buttons with Rosewood.  I really did not see him developing like this but he has been push into a corner and he has to come out fighting.

Rosewood stops and puts a finger to his lips.
What I do now will defined how my.  No not my but our people shall be.
He turns to face the Ambassador and looks her up and down.  His eyes now permanently black.
I see now The Winter Court is frozen in time.  At least The Summer court understands growth and death.
He walks slowly back to her.
I will except your invitation as I, no my people have decided on an agreement to represent this guild.
As for Mab.  She is not my queen and never will be.  But I except and respect her as The Queen of The Winter Court.  If I was to have a queen it would be the fairy I was to marry.  But this is not how our people will be or who we are.  We will have laws to govern all and a council to work for the good of all.

He extends his hand with grace.
We will go to see your queen Mab and try to agree peace between The Winter Court and The Guild.  If I am killed or tricked then I have stayed true to myself and my fairy dust will remember this long after I am gone.

He place his small hand just millimeters from The Ambassador's.
I consent to go with you but you must touch my hand and by doing so you agree to my safe passage both in mind, body and spirit.  Fairy dust be bound.

Rosewood face is blank.  His dark black eyes look back at the Ambassador.  But if you look closer you can see the two types of fairy dust playing together inside his eyes.  Capturing all the light heading into his eyes.  This is why they look black.

the Saber is in good condition, base value $3500 before resale adjustments.

Benito has sold both the purist and elven armors, shares of which went to Marcus and Leroy, both of whom then ditched.

split from armors is 1/5 for each of Gordab, Rosewood, and Anita, Atticus should be good for a portion of the Saber, as mentioned

Ok, by my calculation from that page, the loot is worth a total of $4851.2. If we sell it ourselves, we get 40% of that, or $1940.48/5 = $388 each.

Benito can sell it for $3880.96 (80%, as he is very wealthy and Guild rank 2), but would take an extra share, so our share each would be $647, with Benito getting $646.

Members accounted for are Marcus, Anita, Leroy, Rosewood, Gordab (5 players). That sound right to everyone?

Just to clear something up.

Rosewood does not want to join the Autumn court.  He want to make his own pocket fairy court (which may not be possible).  Reference his dream to Mab.
However going to the Autumn court to learn more about it would help him.  He also wishes to be on good terms with all the fay courts if possible.

Oh and before they leave Rosewood asks the guild if they have such as thing as a 4 room fairy house in or close to the guild.  He ask how much it would cost to buy or have one made for himself.

Given his size I did not think this would be an impossible or unreadable request.

Four room sized by pixie or for you and your friends? a well madepixie sized home costs the same as a full size one so as not to look like a crude dollhouse... available for rent at CoL $150 per week; pixies eat far less but it tends to be honey and nectar.
the guild rooms are roughly hunan sized for the most part; there are a few rooms stacked atop eachother, Gigi Nevins lives in one.

At Hyacinths Hoofprints there are some pixie accommodations, along with rooms for elves and ogres and all manner of folk.

Re: In the Guild

With his new magic item and finding out how much fairies are being ripped of by the guild for wanting a little house of their own Rosewood is even more determining to create his pock fay realm.

He turns to Anita Drake.
I have directions to the Autumn fay court.  Mab gave them to me.  Shall we go there.  I think there is much we can learn.  Unless you have some work you think we should undertake for the guild?

Once the little fairy was just trying to survive and stay out of trouble.  How he has two goal and purpose in live.

Re: In the Guild

Rosewood looks at Atticus Belvedere Silexum back at Anita Drake then finally at his own fingers.

As he does the multi colours of his fairy dust appears just above them.  They dance along with the dark black fairy dust that only his kind can produce.  Weaving in and out of each other in a pyrotechnic display He watches them for a moment.  A sad look appears on the little creature's face.

Why does it seem fun in this universe usually involves hurting other creatures.  He says to himself.

OOC:
I think this is one of the most poignant post I have ever made.

it is indeed a tragic thing, but its own delight for those predisposed toward it.

Mab had said to go to Temple Hill to the shrine of the Two faced God.

Re: In the Guild

In reply to Narrator (msg # 306):

Temple hill is to the west of the guild, on the far side of the artisinal district.
past all of the bustle of smiths and metal workers and woodcarvers.
There is the street of a thousand gods, a maze of small stalls where mandalas and candles, amulets, and blessed relics are sold.
Beyond that, the hills rise, covered with domes and pulared temples of the gods of the old imperium.
Among those, near the abandoned temple of Flora, is the temple of Janus.

Anita, though not spoken to directly, responded.

"I don't think most find it fun. Not in my case anyhow. But hurting others is, in my experience, the only and best way to defend oneself."

Shall we go and see what we can find in the Autumn court.

OOC:
Unless anybody has problem with this let start heading to the doorway to the Autumn Court.
