In reply to Narrator (msg # 1):

Making his way to the second floor Broderick checked with the Guildsman, Floor Manager, if there was a room they could use to plan their next expedition. Broderick was informed there was and they could use it. Arranging for some light refreshments and non alcoholic beverages before heading to the room.
Taking a seat Broderick glanced at Grimaldi. Do you think Darius will be long and is interested in continuing to explore with us?

When everything was set down, Grimaldi took some refreshments, and poured himself a cup of drink. "Salut."
Grimaldi said, raising his glass to Broderick.
Draining his cup, Grimaldi gave his answer:
"Master Broderick. I suggest we make haste in returning, but leave a message for Darius, with your seal. Have him meet us there, while we arrange of how we'll get the gate open. As much I hate to admit it, we may also need one lock specialist to aid us, if we can't somehow get a key."

"I agree with Grimaldi. It'd be nice if the guild would give us the keys necessary to get in. I'm getting antsy though, I want to leave this damned guild hall already," Sederic says, laughing.

Broderick gives a Sederic a wry smile. Master Sederic how many grates, portals or such do you anticipate we will need access keys for; and how many keys do you think the Guild has access to and are prepared to lease out to adventuring groups? ooc if this is unknown have you considered other options?

We don't know where Darius was intending to go only that it was some distance from the slain Slorn. As he is otherwise engaged We should disregard him. I will round up the other three and meet you both outside the guild.

"I think our best course of action would be to just go down there and see what's in store for us. i heard the areas around it were already mapped, so i assumed the guild would have keys to at least some of the gates.  I honestly can't believe we're having such a problem finding a damned rogue," Sederic laughs.  "But by any means, I'm ready to at least go and do some recon. There may even be some other entrances behind the gate in some of the ruined buildings around town. "

Sederic sighs and leans forward, placing his elbows on his knees. He looks between the two men quizzically, trying to place his thoughts in order over the bickering of Miekka.
"You know, a day, hell, even a minute without your constant bickering would be a delight words could barely capture. The minute i figure out how to silence you, believe me, i wont even say goodbye," he says, weariness evident in his eyes, irritability setting in.
"I can force entry into some doors and such, but i fear its a limited ability. And as far as having a literate shevnian with us, we could poasibly avoid that if we can get the materials up here that we wish translated."
He pulls his quiver and sheath from his back and rests them between his legs, running his fingers over Mika's hilt as if anxious.

ooc Broderick doesn't agree to forking out a full share and standard rate. He's of the opinion Hirelings either get standard rate and half share or full share. If the others agree to those terms he'll expect full rate and full share as well and he'll suggest each member of the group to do so also. Thus Dolpho will be obliged to contribute to the payment of the other party members the same way he expects them to contribute to his standard rate.

once the negotiation is finalised he suggests they head to the Leather Lounge to locate Barlow.

Feeling the familiar tinge of magic in the air, Sederic observes the casting of the spell and commits what is found to memory.
Sederic smirks and nods in agreement with Grimaldi. A hand strays to Miekka's hilt and rests there as he sizes the man up, falling into step behind the large group when they move forward.
"I'm assuming you are correct, Grimaldi. Let's hope this is the last one, our group's getting far too large for my liking, soon we won't be able to swing our swords without striking each other accidentally," he chuckles, keeping his voice low, trying to avoid letting others know what they're up to.
He looks around the room, noticing the awful smell of the tannery workers profession sticking to them. He makes mental notes of the shadier looking characters and their locations, preferring to never be caught unawares.m

Follows Grimaldi away from the man, making sure they're far enough away as to not be heard.
"While he sounds useful, I just can't get the fact that we already have so many with us. The man's also got a polearm, that's gonna be all but useless down there. Maybe we can grease his palms though and rent the keys off of him or pay for a mold to be made of them, he did say he'd have to lock up after us so I assume that means he has the keys, " Sederic says, keeping his voice low, looking between the man at the table and the group of men he is conversing with. "Simply put, though, I just don't want another with us. We probably should've came here before going to meet the cutpurse. But, as long as Dolpho can pick locks down there, we should be fine. Although he seems useful, I say we don't take him, probably not the best idea having a sewer worker with us anyway. What if he tells his buddies from work about the stuff we find down there, then we have another group of men down there looking for treasure. "

Nods in agreement with Broderick. He looks the group that has gathered for the expedition over and nods to himself, satisfied with the party. His eyes linger on the construct, his fascination still obvious on his face.
"Upon our return we'll look into the making of a construct of our own, Miekka. I wouldn't mind having one of my own," he says, running his gloved fingers over the pommel of the sword.
Sederic kneels and unhooks his cloak, rolling it up and placing it in his pack and pulls his coif from the pack. He pulls the string holding his hair in a tail and let's it fall to his shoulders placing the coif over his head. As he stands he swings his pack back over his shoulders and tightens the straps, ensuring that his bow and quiver are still easily accessible.

He draws his broadsword, an audible hum emanating from the blade. As the blade is drawn, the fine craftsmanship of the blade becomes evident, Hypäävä Miekka is etched into the blade in fine runic script, and the pommel is an elegant red gem protruding from the black silk wrapped handle. Looking at the blade it is apparent that it is worth a kings ransom.
"This blasted blade's name is Hypäävä Miekka, the sword that leaps in common. If we get into a scuffle, I'll be happy to show you guys why they call him that."
He holds the blade in front of him almost ceremoniously and speaks a few words of magic. A chill breeze from nowhere blows through and the blade of the sword ices over, maintaining it's edge.

Sederic nods and takes up position behind Smasher. He looks to his sword and then down the corridor. He opens his palm and the broadsword leaps from his hand, heading past Dolpho.
"Ill shoot arrows, and Miekka will fight on its own. I only have 4 silver arrows, so I'll have to make my shots count.  Do your worst, Miekka."
He reaches over his shoulder and pulls his bow from his back. He looks down the corridor waiting for a proper target.

A look of irritation creases his brow as he looks at Broderick. He shakes his head and looks back down the passage, nocking a silver arrow. "My apologies, wise master," he says, sarcasm evident in every word. "I had figured a man of your reputed....intelligence, would be able to realize what I was doing when I fell in behind Smasher, as Grimaldi had suggested. I'd be quite interested to see if you have talent for anything besides ordering others around, which you are lacking in as well."
He shakes his head, trying to relieve his irritation and focuses on the task at hand again.

Grimaldi had been promised the bonus sum of one silver, by Broderick only moments earlier before they had descended the ladder. Coward! Grimaldi thought. Not only was he abandoning them during a battle, but Grimaldi knew the fool would never be able to raise his golem up the ladder again, without their help, with his back in the state it was in... After the battle was over, he would deal with them.

ooc Seeking to avoid party conflict is hardly pettiness.

Broderick hasn't assumed control, he stated it's better to discuss deployment issues then it is to present it as a fait accompli. Further his suggestion for Grimaldi's and Sederic's positioning was just that, which was to all extents supportive of Grimaldi's decision to stand to the left of the door. There are others NPC's in the party that could have availed themselves of position Sederic assumed.

In reply to Grimaldi (msg # 211):

Several things: missile spellcasting is a multi part project; roll to cast, which creates the missile, followed byraising more energy if wanted, and then rolling to throw the missile, which may be dodged, then damage rolls.

Secondlu3, I m8ssed if Meika was launched prior to spellcasting, but the weapon would have wanted you to engage, as this is first blood ogf the day.

Thirdly, swinging at this type of critter is risky, Broderick  may have sheared some quills, although they are fairly mobile, but he needs to make a dodge roll for getting that close, otherwise he is struck by one of the pousonous quills (ditto for everyone making a melee attack with a weapon with 1 hex reach or less)

Fourthly this creature is skeletal, the most effective weapons are crushing.

Make sure that Clare and Grimaldi are getting along alright. If you would allow it, I think Smasher and I can handle this beastie, it surely can't have much fight left in it.
He extends his free hand for what should be a handshake and clasps arms around the wrist should Broderick accept to cement his apology. If not, he puts his hand back in front of him, palm out in preparation for another casting should the beast survive.

Re: Guild offices take two.

Fulfilling the roll of facilitator, we undertook to form a consortium of Guild Members, each with a voice in decision making and outcomes. At no time was there any mention of group Leadership. Thus any allegation of failing in a Leadership capacity is moot.

Our exploration of a portion of the underground complex was progressing well when we reached a point where our scout had run into some considerable difficulty and was beating a hasty withdrawal. We were in the process of discussing Tactics, one proposal was suggested but had not been affirmed; when a specific member of the team chose to vary this proposed positioning without discussion. Thereby placing the group with a Fait accompli. I commented about this, action and the individual in question became maliciously disrespectful and slanderous.  This unwarranted belligerence combined with previously observed instances of internal struggle raised a degree of uncertainty regrading the fellows mental acuity  For which I perceived additional threat towards others in the group, notably my Dear Wife Clair. To ensure she would be protected from this person's or his magical weapon perceived threat I directed our family Guard to reposition himself protectively in front of her. I then stood facing Master Grimaldy, thus positioned to flank any threat that would issue forth from the passage; whilst Master Sederic with his Ego Blade stood facing the passage in his Fait accompli position. During the resulting clash with the Giant Undead Rodent, Master Grimaldy  was injured and forced to withdraw from his position to be attended by Clair. Once the foul Creature had been felled, Massers Grimaldy and Sederic chose to abandon the groups endeavour and leave the rest of the team in relatively untenable position. Those who remained chose to return to the Guild to acquire healing for Master Mercer who had been both injured and Poisoned by the Undead Creature.

"In regards to Broderick's orders, I silently complied. I do not know why it wasn't good enough. I admit that Miekka had grown tired of him and his entourage, but I maintain control over him and would have allowed no harm to come to him or his partners. Even after the fact, the man continues to throw insults my way, and I find it quite bothersome."

Sederic crosses his arms and looks at Broderick, disgust evident on his face.
"I had figured my apology would have put an end to the insults,
but it appears I was wrong."

Ooc My posts indicicate a degree of time had passed since the team had returned to the guild. Overseeing Dolpho's treatment, dining with Clair, drafting documents, unwinding etc. Thus when he visited Aemon it was reasonable to assume neither of you were present.

Also note Broderic was willing to let the incident pass, however you two chose to continue along this tact.

Make several rolls: Area knowledge guild (x4) to determine what you know about a table that looks to have a duelist, a thief, a mendicant friar and a sorcerous looking woman.

If you are seeking out types you have adventured with before, you may have to get a crier to look for them and otherwise advertise; this will take half an hour to get a quick ford out, and about $20, and I will roll for their appearance/availability. if you are willing to pay $60 you can get more done for a day, by hiring Lucian the Crier.

Timeon, a stealthy sort you vaguely recall checking in a shortsword and a crossbow, and
  Frer Noe, a simple friar.

None have any particularly notable histories with the guild, and none have been on any groups your associates have been involved with.

Giving Timeon and Gaspard an thankful smile Broderick waits for comment from Margaux le Manifique and Frer Noe. If there are no objections He suggests Rabelais le Sur can draw up the contracts, he gives them a brief of the threats they have encountered in the previous foray prompting the Priest and Mage to consider possible materials they may need to bring with them. While the contracts are being draw up he informs the quartet that he will be gathering the other members and will return shortly.
