"Careful, don't block my shot."  Mario sidesteps if needed to keep a clear shot at the spiders on and near the bundles.

The spiders dart away from Clarence'torch, but more gather on tne ceiling and aroumd the edges of the hall. There look to be eight or nine.

She starts to concentrate

"I'n hopin t'ese bundles be our 'friend' Ymid an it's familiar."


Jareth takes a defensive stance in anticipation of the spider's attack.

Clarence continues what he is doing, but is prepared to defend of any spider attacks with the torches...he is getting nervous.

"Mel, I think we'd be better to kill these spiders at a distance, than to wait for them to close.  You agree, Jareth?"

Mel pushes her way forward and brings her bow up...

"Good idea Mario."

With what seems a single motion, Mario pulls the arrow from his quiver, nocks, draws, and looses at the nearest spider where he has a clear shot.

Clarence keeps the torches handy as he cleans webs, and spiders if need be.

As long as the spoders are in retreat, Mario will hold his action, but his right hand once again hovers at the fletching of the single arrow.

"Jareth, can you get Ymid and friend out of that wrapping, assuming you're right about who it is?"

Nodwin moves forward and using his flaming blade, helps to free the bundles.

Your flaming pole weapon cuts easily through the webbing, but is at risk for burning the captives...

Jareth pulls out a small knife and starts cutting the webbing away on the large form.

Mario keeps watch for approaching spiders or other threats, above and beyond the cleared area.

Clarence continues to expand the cleared area.

Mario glances over his shoulder as Ymid emerges from the spider's wrapping, then returns to his visual search.

"You look a bit the worse for wear."

Jareth gives it the once over, trying to figure out if he knows how to treat the Ymid's poisoning.

A bath in vinegar may help draw out some of the poison, as will direct application of salted meat to the injury site. Magical healing seems to work on elder things, although few have actually tried it... it would appear that standard alchemical preparations also work... there are indications that some elder things have severe allergies to, or dread of, common substances, but there is dispute over which things and which substances. Strangely, elder things are not compelled to count seeds or small objects, nor are they entirely affected by areas deprived of manna.

Not recommended: drawing out poison with your lips; secretions of elder things are often hallucinogenic if not toxic.
