Masugatan quietly draws his broadsword as he licks his lips.

Masugatan makes a squeeking sound, like he’s a really big rat.

An ordainary rat peers over the edge of tne trapdoor

“Hey there, cousin.  How you been?” he cooes.

The rodent scampers away. Nothing else stirs in tbe dark space above.

Harlan gestures and his magical light rises through the trap door.

Not considering a rat a serious threat, Reanna holds her fire and waits....

Masugatan starts making faces.  First he does his best rat impression, which is remarkably good.  Even an astute observer would be hard pressed to tell the difference between him and the real thing.  He does this very quietly, however.

Aside from the rat above, there is no sound coming from whatever is in the space above, and nothing responds to the light. You can see that it is illuminating a small room with plasterd walls, and timber ceilings from which old cobwebs hang.

Reanna notes the antics beside her hand shakes her head.

"I will follow whoever is leading...who is first?"

Harlan sets his baton crackling with electricity and climbs the ladder with it leading.

Reanna will follow to the base of the ladder, and only follow him up once he reaches the top and is off the ladder.

Masugatan glances over his shoulder, making sure nothing is sneaking up on them.

The street mage finishes scaling the ladder.
"It looks like no one has been up here for a long time." there is a sizzling sound and a distressed squeak

You are in a small (3yd x4yd) room with a fireplace and an open doorway to one side that looks on into another room with a ladder up on one wall and a wooden door on another.

Reanna readies her crossbow again after scaling the ladder.

"Should we try the door first, or just ignore it and head on up?"

“I vote for door, if anyone’s asking.” He spits on his broadsword and rubs it on affectionately.

"I say we look up the ladder."

“Very well.”  Masugatan looks up the ladder, hoping to find a skirt up there.

Masugatan can see a mummified body hanging from a rafter above. Unfortunately it is an old man whose robe he is looking up.

Reanna follows Masugatans eyes, but only briefly, and fortunately from enough of an angle to avoid the most unpleasant view.

"We probably should cut him down, hey?"

She looks for a way to climb up to the rope above the body.
