This enclosed tractor pod is used to transport cargo skiffs through space, while protecting the crews in transit. Each two man unit has enough space for two pilots/crewmen in CVR-3 armor. Beside each seat in a compartment is an emergency EVA pack, in case the skiff tractor loses power or is damaged. The skiff's side thruster assemblies freely spin, allowing the craft remarkable agility, while cutting down on the sheer number of xenon-fueled ion thrusters.
The craft are fragile compared to even many power armor systems. This is because it is not meant to engage in combat. The majority of the damage comes from micro meteorites, not plasma bolts. That said, the craft is unusually agile, and often uses that to its advantage when enemy contact is imminent. The powerful thrusters and the computer's responsive nature means that a single tractor may tow up to three modules without a severe loss of mobility. The computer's (and thrusters') limit is 5 skiff units.
Cargo Skiff:
These skiffs come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They are most often used in conjunction with Bug Eye Skiff Tractors, but their universal linkage system can be towed by almost any heavy cargo mover used by the UEEF and its allies. The skiff linkage system allows the Bug Eye tractor to link up with any skiff module, creating a tractor-trailer arrangement. Built into most skiff cargo modules, like the tractor, are an array of xenon-fueled ion thrusters, similar to those found in EVA packs. Without a tractor, these thrusters sit useless. With a tractor, the small skiff's on-board computer uses them to provide a very agile and nimble movement that belies it's shape and size. Because of this, these skiffs are used quite often by the UEEF and its various colonies.
Common modules include:
ZGMU-SP1
MDC: 100
A passenger module that will transport up to 10 workers in CVR-3 or some other EVA Armor. Up to 5 workers in power armor (including cyclones) may be carried instead. In addition, these modules also have built in tool compartments, allowing the crews to bring heavy tools with them. There are no seats inside, merely rigging harnesses to allow passengers to strap in, so they do not end up crushed against the ceramic and glass walls of this skiff. Power Armor Units must use two sets of rigging ties offs.
ZGMU-SC1
MDC: 200
A standard 6 meter (20') cargo container with a larger motive thruster and multiple manuevering packs attached.
ZGMU-SC2
MDC: 300
A standard 12 meter (40') cargo container with a larger motive thruster and multiple manuevering packs attached.
ZGMU-SL1
MDC: 200
A standard 6 meter (20') pressurized liquid container with a larger motive thruster and multiple manuevering packs attached. These are most commonly used to transport gases and fuels to work sites.
ZGMU-SL2
MDC: 300
A standard 12 meter (40') pressurized liquid container with a larger motive thruster and multiple manuevering packs attached. These are most commonly used to transport gases and fuels to work sites.
ZGMU-SF1
MDC: 200
A standard 6 meter (20') Flat bed frame with a larger motive thruster and multiple manuevering packs attached. These are most commonly used to transport large and odd-shaped cargos.
ZGMU-SF2
MDC: 300
A standard 12 meter (40') Flat bed frame with a larger motive thruster and multiple manuevering packs attached. These are most commonly used to transport large and odd-shaped cargoes.
