IC: CWB followed by semi-freeform non-sandbox
Hi,
Many years ago I was part of a collaborative worldbuilding exercise using the Dawn of Worlds system which is freely available online. Unfortunately, the game itself never actually went anywhere. I'd like to try something similar.
There will be no magic, except that that could be explained by Clarke's Third Law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." and variations thereof. As an example, in the last CWB I was part of, someone created a race that could 'throw' fireballs using biological principles similar to bombardier beetles.
Gameplay would be taking place during the real world equivalent of the transition between the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, complete with all the crises and turmoil. This does not necessarily mean that it takes place during the first civilization, and it would be possible to have 1 or more previous, more advanced and now fallen/forgotten civilizations.
I would prefer it if there was no system in place in true free form, however am open to implementing a crunch lite or simple homebrew system to resolve conflict should it be necessary. I do have a plot in mind that can be adapted to fit the world that is created.
Characters will not be pillars of the realm, shaking mountains with every stride, at least not to start however I am open to plot-driven advancement to such a level. They could however be very minor nobles, struggling merchants, etc. I am interested in characters that overcome challenges in spite of their drawbacks.
Game rating will be Adult to allow the writing of violent conflict. Romantic liasions will be strictly cut to black.
Initially I would be looking for between 4 - 8 players, opening the game up to more once the world building is done and character creation begins.
Thanks for your time, please feel free to ask me any questions here or send me an rMail.
Edit: I should add that the posting rate would be once per day minimum, within reason (Public Holidays, etc)
Edit: Clarification - The world building would use the Dawn of Worlds system. The RP portion of the game would be free-form/semi free-form
