IC: Gurps Space: Flat Earth

This not an original idea, but something I read in a book years ago, and adjusted for an RPG game:

A scout ship, far past the fringes of Known Space is mapping new star systems when it finds an anomaly floating in space, light years from any start: A flat planet, with sun and moon orbiting around it. And not just any planet: the continental placement and shapes match that of Earth itself.

The characters would be an exploratory force sent after the scout ship's message torpedo arrived back in known space and gave it's report update. While the planet is obviously a construct, built by a technology that far outstrips Humanity's current levels, it's more shocking that it's a match for Earth, of all planets. Coincidence, message, or something else entirely?

I'd be setting the game at TL10 (for the characters), and an all human setting. There would be no support outside what the ship brings,as the distance is much too farr for FTL comms, and the crew likely spent most of the trip in hibernation, given the distances involved.

Character points would be around 200, maybe a bit more, and limited Psionics would be allowed. Some Variant Tech would be allowed, but how much is uncertain at this time. No cybernetics or genetic redesigns. Human means Human.

Sounds like a cool idea.

No cyber or bio tech seems like an unrealistic limitation, but I'm sure we can come up with justifications why they don't exist.

Justification: Political reasons.

Humanity didn't want to tamper with human biology because a previous attempt to do so created some form of horror that made cybertech and biotech illegal.

I'm not exactly showing my interest just throwing in an idea for you to work with. Normally I would be interested in this sort of game but I'm kind a full on the RP front right now!

Actually, I just use the rationale that regeneration tanks are better than mechanical replacement parts and the flesh doesn't need constant maintenance that may not be available years travel away from the nearest human base.
