IC: Eclipse Phase (2e) - Acrimony

I've followed EP for a long time but never played, and came to it just late enough to be completely overwhelmed by the volume of material.

If you didn't know, EP is now open playtesting 2nd Edition materials and very recently put out an official Quickstart Guide and Scenario ("Acrimony") with pre-constructed characters and a GM guide (don't read the spoilers!!)

SO:  Any interest in taking it for a spin?

I'd be willing to give it a shot. I've pretty much shouted out all my criticisms on 2e on the forums, but I haven't had a chance to play yet.

I might be a little responsible for the MP system...

I had some similar feelings about the material, the few times I tried 1e. I'd be very interested in trying 2e, though.

As a general warning, the hard part about EP has always been the setting.  It is dense with politics and factions and technology terms and concepts and all sorts of stuff you almost have to be taught in order to understand (and even then, you're going to miss a lot or learn stuff wrong because whoever taught you got them wrong).  The 2e rules are a lot lighter, but the rest of it's all still there.

it's very crunchy but i think dialing it all down to (more or less) what's in the 2e quick start guide might help? keeping it real simple to start and not worrying too much about the factions or politics at first, other than for character flavour and motivation.

personally, like i said, i never had the chance to play 1e so I only ever browsed the material, but I am completely taken by the setting, theme, and quite frankly by mr. boyle's open source / creative commons approach.  i really respect that aspect. i missed the kickstarter for 2e but i'm hoping to get on board for 2e whenever it's released in full.

I participated in the kickstarter, even though I never played 1e, and I'd be really interested in playing Acrimony, but I'm changing home, and I won't have time until next month, I'm afraid.

I apologize for the post that needed moderation, I've been away a while, and my forum etiquette is quite rusty.

Okay great! so there's interest, that's good to hear.  I will try to see if I can get something going later this month, or maybe October.  Recently found out a game I'd tried to start 6+ months ago (and I had to back out of because baby) is still alive and well on the interest side.  so i plan to dive back into that first.  if i can multitask, i will try to run EP:Acrimony eventually.
