It was basically a spin-off of second edition D&D using the Buck Rogers rights because of some
extremely shady corporate shenanigans but the game world itself was fantastic.
There was a big war (shock, horror!) and Earth had been devastated but five hundred years the Solar System has been settled by genetically engineered humans and 'gennies', new life-forms built to change the worlds to suit their new inhabitants. Mercury is the court of the sun kings who have a near-monopoly on power generation, Venus split between plateau-dwellers, the aerostate floating cities and the mysterious gennie lowlanders, Earth is an ex-ish-martian Satrapy split between ruined mega-cities and freedom fighters while Mars is the home of the Russo-American Mercantile, or RAM the settings Big Bad Guys.
The belt is basically space pirate central with countless settlements and no law but the gun on your hip (except where it has lots), rocket ships are everywhere and you're probably working for the NEO (New Earth Organisation), who are a ragtag band of freedom fighters looking to help earth fight off RAM.
Hell, there were even computer games!
