IC: Teen Wolf-esque or Monster Hunters

I am looking to run a game using the Savage Worlds ruleset to run a game in either of two settings if there is an interest.

* Teen Wolf-esque

Not set in the same town as the movie series but in a totally new town with none of the canon characters. There will be two packs in the town though...one run by a Scott-esque character and the other by a Derek-esque character. Players will be homemade characters of their liking, most of the different "monster" types will be available, and be part of a pack...or solo. This will include the hunters in the game as well though they won't be the Argents but a different one of my making.

You'll run into situations like in the movies and new ones that I will devise as well as take suggestions on.

* Monster Hunters

You will be a member of a Monster Hunter family that deals with the dark things that go bump in the night. I was thinking about something much like a combination of movie series....Buffy, Teen Wolf and Van Helsing. Most characters would be human though some could have a touch of magic if that was something of interest. Along the way...there could even be issues with infection and how that is dealt with by the players...their organization.

Would there be any interest in either of these types of ideas? Be aware that though we would be using the Savage Worlds system, I award roleplay even more than rollplay.

Anyone else have an interest in either of the two ideas? Really would like to have at least 4 players in total before I start anything.

If you help with Character creation, I love Premise #2!

I don't mind helping with character creation. And I will throw it out that instead of Savage Worlds I could make use of World of Darkness instead. Just trying to use a ruleset that I have and is already setup for a horror setting.

Well, they both present a very different feel, Savage Worlds and World of Darkness I mean. If we were using WoD, would you be using Hunter? Or something else?

I'm cool with teen wolves. Not keen on hunters, not so keen on WoD although it's 'OK'. I would much prefer Savage World.

I'm tentatively interested premise #2. I'm not sure about either Savage Worlds or World of Darkness, although mostly I don't know WoD that well, and a fellow gamer tells me that SW is better than it looks for handling supernatural characters. Mostly I like to be able to make unique characters with distinct specialties, so if there's room to do that well in the setting and system I'll probably be on board.

Actually, I don't know Teen Wolf in the slightest (so I don't know what Scott-esque and Derek-esque are for example), but now that I look more closely at your post I see there's room for other monster types too? In that case that would interest me as well, maybe even more so if there's a lot of room for variety. I enjoy playing out supernatural/superpowered teenage weirdness :)

I have to agree that I prefer SW actually as it is a bit simpler than any of the other systems I can think of. At least ones that have some form of system to them that will make things better than free-form.

And yeah, there have been a number of useable character introduced into the Teen Wolf stuff so far. Those that are easier to life in the 'human society' will of course be available for use.

For anyone that is interested...let me setup a board then so that we can talk things out. I am going to go with the Teen Wolf idea as it will also give access to Hunters...good and bad.
