IC: 40k Underhive game AW rules

I was thinking the other day about the Kal Jericho series from Warhammer 40k, and that I could see the Necromunda Underhive as a great setting for the Apocalypse World system.  Would just require re-naming a few things, particularly equipment.

I am picturing the setting being mostly gang warfare with political shades: different Houses, merchants, industrialists, the Arbites, and hive/planetary governor being the main factions.  A little "wild west" feel as most people who flee to the underhive are either in debt, wanted criminals, mutants, declared heretics, etc., and the general level of technology is much lower than the sci-fi in 40k.  Only rarely would the game expand into the more mainstream parts of 40k such as space marines, inquisitors, rogue traders, assassins, ships, any aliens, daemons, etc.  Some psykers would be present (a la the Brainer), but are self-taught and tend to hide their abilities from the Administratum.

I know many people tend to favor DH/RT/DW/BC/OW gaming systems for 40k games, but please let me know if my idea sounds appealing.

And listening to Protomen's The Good Doctor gave me a character concept that would fit perfectly in this game, so I'll throw in my interest.

Now, let's see just how many gang members I can replace with hands of steel.

I loved Necromunda and enjoyed playing the TT far more than the regular 40k battles...still have all my figs and all the regular army ones that I would mod to use and alternate enemies down in the underhive...good times.

I'd totally be game to play in that world...but I've never done AW either so if you don't mind a mechanics noob but setting friendly guy...
