Zombie/Infected Galactic Sci-fi Apocalypse

I'm curious if people would be interested in playing a game where a disease has spread across the galaxy and killed billions, causing them to rise as zombies/infected.

I'm considering Traveller Core or FreeForm. Possibly homebrew but idk.

The game would feature a group of players travelling on a ship across the galaxy. Things like fuel, resources, pirates, etc would be a big part of the game. Survival basically. Maybe starting up a small colony, whatever the players wanted.

I'm leaning towards freeform/homebrew, but I like the character creation aspect of Traveller.

So, interest? Opinions on mechanics?

I would definitely RTJ on this. Sounds like an interesting concept. Not familiar with Traveler Core, but I would be fine with either system.

I'm interested, but i'd like some more information about it. The levels of technology, what we're allowed to do, the balance (or lack of) combat and RP, character creation, etc.

I've had character ideas for sci-fi settings for a LONG time, mostly derived from the sci-fi universe i crafted myself but never used (i'm a terrible DM). I'd like to try and use them, although i'll definitely need to sit down and edit them since a majority of them are aliens of my own design.

Tl;dr

Go for it, although i'd like to learn more.

Tech wise I'd go with ships capable of jump drives, and there being laser weapons alone with regular kinetic weapons still around as well. So think star wars tech except with kinetic weapons as well. Not quite as advanced as star trek tech, but shields, jump droves, laser weaponry, etc are in existence.

We could also use Apocalypse World? The rule are free and it's rules lite.

I'm still learning Apocalypse World, but i know a bit about it's mechanics. Well, i'm playing a Mass Effect form of it currently, but yea. Again, i can't promise i'll RTJ, but the idea is interesting enough to be worth a shot

I'd be interested in this.

Just curious if you have considered All Flesh Must Be Eaten as your system? It has books that already fit what you want to do.  Just thought to mention it.  :)

Yep, as Risky Kisses just said. Colour me interested if you plan to use AFMBE and most likely the All tomorrow's Zombies book for your game.

I've never played with AFMBE, so I'll have to learn that. I'm not sure about our hopefully-soon-to-be-GM though. Oh, also, a rather big question of mine...

Do you plan on locking us on a ship and calling this an extremely generic campaign/dead space, or will we actually be allowed to get around and stuff? While the latter might sound odd or hard to pull off, it's possible. I did it. I can probably help with it, if you want.

I've never used AFMBE, nor do I have the books. That said, I can possibly but them. You guys said all tommorows zombies? I'll look it up.

Haha no, you will not be locked into a ship with zombies. While I may do that for one episode, it's going to start with you guys having your own ship. Or getting ypur own ship. I'm letting the players be mobile. I want them to explore a zombie infested galaxy. It sounds awesome to me, all the different opportunities and all. I've never seen it done before which surprised me.

I would also be very interested in this regardless of what system we use. However I am familiar with AFMB.

Well that certainly makes me more excited! I've always been fond of the exploration aspects in sci fi games and stuff. Oh, also, in regards to playable races, is it humans only or do we get Aliens to play as? And I'm not talking a blue human being passed off as an alien.

Aliens will be allowed, certainly.

Looking at the system now, looks like it won't cost me to much!

I got the core, haven't purchased all tomorrows zombies yet since I've already strained extra spending money but I'll get it soon. Game set up will be done today.
