Cinematic Scene Recreations

It's not to everyone's taste, but my preference is that my roleplaying games have action scenes that emulate what I can see in movies or in shows.

What I'm proposing here is a game forum in which the participants take turns recreating their favorite action scenes using their favorite set of mechanical rules.

I'm not sure how to phrase this but to get what I'm after, but the main stipulation would be that the mechanics involved be ones that function to simulate chunks of the action, such as characters moving, fighting, and otherwise accomplishing things. Pretty much any degree of reflavoring would be allowed, but I'm interested in seeing how the systems and the people at the table could bring about the action.

To be clear: the scenes wouldn't actually be played, just described as if they had been played and resulted in the known scene. No dice or other resolution devices would actually be used. The scene is assumed to play out as it does in the story: if someone tries to do something in the scene and fails, then they try to do it in the recreation and fail, by fiat. Each participant will "play" both the GM and the players.

My preference would be that people use actual systems, not ones that are largely homebrewed. Free-form play does not really fit here either.

For instance, I'd like to use 4th Edition D&D to recreate the "escape from the tavern" scene from Willow.

Have you ever tried "It came from the Late,Late,Late Show"? I think it has the flavor you were looking for.

Maybe, but I'm not looking for a system. I'm looking at a variety of people using a variety of systems. Someone might very well use that system, but others would use others.

All my combat scenes I describe cinematically.  Most of my players go ga-ga over the fight scenes because it's like reading a major fight scene out of a book.  If the combat is large enough, that is, smaller combats are a little harder to make epic.

That's cool. That's what I like to hear. What I'm after is a forum where we demonstrate our methods along those lines, while incorporating some rules. Make sense?

Cinematic Scene Recreations

Don't know about a forum for cinematic posting but sounds cool.  For me, in these play by post games.  The biggest part is knowing my players and what they would most likely do.  Some big fights read like one big story.  Other big fight, I have broken up just to allow the players a little more feeling of control at times, or where there were different scenes in one large scale combat.  That hasn't been a complaint mind you.

Recently, in my longest running game, the world got over run by a zombie virus (See the EX series by Peter Clines, same zombies same setting and blessing from the author).  The three main characters (2 players have fallen by the way and 1 other was my wife who passed away) find themselves in Strasbourg France (previously enemy territory) with there new ally (previous enemy) and having to defend against the zombies.  Though, something is controlling the zombies on a grand scale and they are working in units, using equipment and weapons now.  First the Heroes thought just routine 'zombies with guns' clean up then the zombies with powers started showing up.  That is when I went from story mode to a more turn by turn combat.

After the EX-Heroes (Clines fans will see what I did there) were dealt with then they had to regroup and relocate to free Strasbourg's train center from enemy control.  The enemy had come in on train and even had air support and armor in the beginning.  When the heroes attacked the rail hub, THEN I went back to story mode BUT I spot checked with the players between rounds for what they were doing.
