Semi Free-Form Pokemon Game

I noticed a relative lack of Pokemon games on here, and I was curious if there'd be any interest in an RP-oriented Pokemon game? I'm open in regards to systems, but I'm not too keen on drowning in numbers so much as I'm interested in a good story. Let me know!

Semi Free-Form Pokemon Game

id join in as well though id suggest a system for the stats of a pokemon not a stats system for the trainer. also id have players as gym leaders or traveling elite 4. make it a little more interesting.

I think this would be the best way to figure things out on the pokemon. After all it was always the pokemon who were fighting rather than the trainers themselves.
That being said, I also think that the player needs some level and/or stats. After all, if you remember that the Professor said that some Pokémon wouldn't fight for trainers they thought were not up to snuff. Reference Ash and Charazard.

All that being said, Pokémon started when I was a kid, and I remember the original 150, when Pokémon Blue, Red, and Yellow first came out so I would LOVE to play some good Pokémon again.

Re: Semi Free-Form Pokemon Game

I am not sure yet if I'll join, it depends on how this ends up going.
I'd second the vote for ptu though.

The video games only had pokemon do stuff, but in the show, the people and trainers were often involved and participated. For example, one guy trained with his pokemon, sparring with them and such. In the show there was much more teamwork between the trainers and their pokemon, except during "official" battles.

Honestly, I'd prefer that higher level of interaction between trainer and pokemon.

Of course, it would also be neat to try being other things, like gym leaders, rangers, or something else. In fact I tried another game which flopped before going anywhere, but I had made a gym leader who rather then type specializing, specialized in 3 on 3 battles.

There's a lot of good ideas here; the issue is, I'm completely unfamiliar with that system. O.o

Don't worry, you're not the only one unfamiliar with the system. I just planned on bugging people until I learned :)

Re: Semi Free-Form Pokemon Game

Iv ran a game in 1.04, so if I review 1.05 I might be able to help. I keep meaning to anyway. As for my suggestion, you can go light on the humans, for example just keep track of what they are good at, and do rules for the Pokemon.

It all depends on the type of game you want to run.  Heck the show hand waved common sense and rules anyway.

No idea, I need to check this forum more often. I never noticed the last post was 10 days old.
