IC: Returner's Guildhall Chat

I like the FF3e but it seems to stagnate at level 64, and I think I probably missed limit breaks. Anyhow, I recently saw what I assumed was a FF3e interest check, and I have ALWAYS been interested. Never managed to get a decent game going though.... I've seen lots of games try to start up, but none actually get made, or come to fruition. I would not mind running one, but haven't really got enough experience to feel comfortable with them. That being said, I do want to run a "game" of sorts. where we can post houserules (the Limit Break rule among my own houserules), pitch games to people interested, and advertise/link to those games if interest brings them to fruition. I'd need indication others are interested before I set it up.

TL;DR=I'm looking to create a discussion group for the "third edition" Final Fantasy Roleplaying Game.

I'll be around, not likely to post much, as I have NO play experience with the game yet, unfortunately.

They say that if you build it, they will come. Perhaps this is one of those things?

That doesn't work as well as the Costner estate might have you believe. I'd rather have more concrete evidence they might come before I build it.

I'd be interested in this. Followed this system since I was in high school... too long ago. :)

What do you mean by censoring?

You know, like in the public forums how you have to use fruits for obscene language, and how you probably can't get away with it in a game that doesn't warn you up front?

Is that... somehow a problem for you in general conversation? >_> I'm not saying I mind swearing or anything, but since you would be the GM in this case you can label the game as Mature (or Adult if you absolutely want to) and that's a warning right there that strong language might occur, per official policy.

I guess my question is: Is your use of profanity so widespread or intense that it needs an additional warning? Because I feel like the occasional expletive is okay in a discussion, even an intelligent debate, but if the conversation is going to be littered with them for no apparent reason then I'm not certain I'll be an active participant. Likely quite the opposite, in fact. Sometimes things happen and there's a justifiable amount of outrage or whathave you. Sometimes you just need the word to express something no other word does justice to. I understand those, but I don't understand 'automatic swearing' where it's just there because it is.

This has gotten slightly away from me so I'll just say that unless you're not someone who swears, on average, more than once a paragraph, I'm not bothered by it at all, and still interested in this proposal.

I don't really quantify it, but I have a need not to break the rules. There are members of my adult games who've responded to this thread who can give you an idea how much obscene language I use. From what I hear though, I'm no worse than Cid Highwind.

To clarify...

As mentioned in our Mature Games and Adult Games policies, occasional profanity is permitted in a game with a Mature rating, as a small part of the game.  However... frequent use, large quantities of it in isolated posts, or usage of strong profanity, will require an Adult rating.

Regardless of what is considered acceptable elsewhere.

Re: IC: Returner's Guildhall Chat

I know that. I almost always pick adult games, because doing so removes the worry for me whether or not a particular quantity is too much, and whether or not a particular phrase is too strong. To me, sometimes no phrase is strong enough. I just like to be prepared for that sometimes, and I like to play by the rules.

I figured that.  There did, however, seem to be a few people who were mildly confused by the current direction of this discussion.

Re: IC: Returner's Guildhall Chat

Thanks :D. In any case, I usually reserve "more than once per paragraph" for things like politics, which I avoid on RPoL. The discussion group will be FF3e centric.
