Primarly an interest check post but looking to refine the concept a little at the same time.

The premise:

Game would be Freeform and either Mature or Adult.

Everyone rolls up a slice of life everyday character. No caps, no restrictions, no limitations. You want to play a carpenter, father of two, happily married and running his own business, go for it. You want to play an addict living on the streets, scraping by, unsure where her next meal is coming from, go for it. You want to play an army ranger just back from two tours in the sandbox, power to you.

And then, the twist (which will occur in game), you awaken as a god/goddess of old. Zeus, or Anubis, or Kalima, or Hel, and so on. You find yourself both still part of your normal life but also thrust into a world of supernatural action and politics that goes on behind the scenes of the mortal realm, vested with great power and great purpose, free to embrace or flee from this sudden revelation as your character chooses.


Here's the trick, I'd like to run it with the GM pick assigning the gods. I'm thinking maybe the allowance is you can pick the pantheon / mythology you prefer? But even then maybe not.

Hit me, what's the general feeling on a game like that? Does that sound fun, does that sound lame?

The thrust of the game would be all about awakening to this newfound identity, almost a duality, both being Odin and Sam Jones, father of 3 and husband to a loving wife, career baseball player still trying to come up from the minors. It'd be a game deeply influenced by the characters and a world deeply influenced by them as well (given the powers they'd receive, which would of course mostly revolve around their specific deity).
