Sci-Fi spoof

Hi,

I want to make a comedy science fiction game. It would be a bit like a Futurama RPG. Probably mainly a parody of Star Trek.

I'm wondering what system of rules would be most suitable.

In reply to LordIce (msg # 1):

Hmmm… probably a fairly light rule-set… you're going for comedy, so it shouldn't take N hours with a spreadsheet to create a character. Perhaps FATE?

Where No Man Has Gone Before, a Star Trek RPG with light rules, basically is a parody of Star Trek (though it can also be played seriously). Every silly trope of the classic series is in the rules: you can play a redshirt who dies each episode and is replaced in the next viable scene; NPCs will fall in love with a random PC at first sight; you can rip your uniform for an advantage in battle. The optional TV rules mean random stuff can happen based on ratings, like a chimp joins the crew.

NO, not Galaxy Quest.

I like those rules there. Maybe we could do that.

Looks interesting. I have a guy I made for a similar idea, I'd have to tamper with stuff if you allow alien races to make the species.

How about Lasers and Feelings by John Harper, creator of Lady Blackbird and Danger Patrol?

Lasers & Feelings is perfect, just perfect. That's what we're going with.

Game is called "Slog to the Cosmos!"
