DnD 5e: Going Home

When you were a child you and your friends had this game you would play. It was part Goonies, part Neverending Story, part Labyrinth, part Legend. You'd run around in the woods with sticks for swords, fighting monsters, riding dragons, having adventures.

Every kid played games like that, but you guys got really into it, you know? Consistently the same magical kingdom of make-believe, creating a mythology you barely remember.

It was so important to you then, this game, but like so much, obscured by the mists of age. Now you have a career, a family, a life. You're an adult.

And it's time for your fifteenth anniversary. Back to high school. Back to the small town you grew up in. Back to memories that haven't quite faded, perhaps, as much as you thought they had.

Going Home is a DnD 5e about childhood remembrances and dreams long forgotten, about recapturing something special that you've forgotten you've even lost.

Key to the game will be playing relatively well-adjusted 21st century adults finding themselves in a fantasy world. So players will have to pull off "normal."

Interest?

DnD 5e: Going Home

Would it be adults finding themselves in the fantasy world as they are in the real world? Or would they be transformed, somehow, into fantasy characters (as in a person suddenly finding himself in the new world with the body of a Dwarf)?

If it's the former, then I would be interested.

DnD 5e: Going Home

They'd be physically entering the fantasy world as 30-something year old adults in various states of physical fitness.

Yeah there was a cool book that goes back 20 years or so that is kinda like this. The only difference was the players entered the world as their players not as them selves.

Like Gurps are you OK to help out on creation ? I have not tried out 5e yet so this is also a bit of a bonus.

There's a free Players Guide download that might help: http://media.wizards.com/2015/...Rules_Playerv3.4.pdf

But yeah, the way this game is going to work is that it should be playable without more than that. I'm happy to help.

For that matter, we obviously have enough interest. So I'm going to set up a game, and will post here when it's ready.
