Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

I'd like to keep it to players with the book, either the beta or the final version so they have some reference to the extensive Force powers and talent trees.

If at some point, an interested player without the book now buys the book, I plan on there having been more younglings who escaped than there are initial players. Story wise, 14 years later, they are on another world, traveling in space, or perhaps just elsewhere on the planet and not an active part of the group until they show up later on.

That said, DementedJ did you get the beta updates as they came out, or do you just have the initial beta release?

I've got the beta version as well, but have gotten the regular one since I'm interested in the changes.  Were there a lot?

Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

Turns I out I was wrong.  This one is the beta as well.  And since they don't seem to sell PDFs, it seems I'm precluded unless you're ok with me just having the beta.  It's frustrating since I'm currently stuck in a third world country, so I can't get the main book shipped to me.  I really wanted to see the changes.

Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

There is a good post summarizing the changes from beta to release on the Force and Destiny forum on FFG's community section on their site. I believe I read that there were 11 beta updates in total, that is to say changes between beta versions.

In reply to Redfoxmagi (msg # 10):

Yes, I'm ok with a player having a beta hard copy. I will say though, any time a difference shows up I will be using the final release version- but the core mechanics are pretty much the same so it will most likely be minor differences in XP costs, credits cost, a change to a power or talent, etc.

I just ask that player's with the beta have a good attitude if I make a change based on the difference between beta and release. :)

Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

That's perfectly fine with me.  I'll just let you know the concept and what I'm going for in the future and hope you'll guide me fairly instead of roadblocking me if I don't know the changes.  Just tell me the relative changes ahead of time once you know what I'm going for and we can work on it together.  I prefer conducive styles like that.  ^_^

Ok, now I'm super excited for this game.  Can we make characters already?  xP

No but I have every other book out there. So I can use those as a base. I will be either purchasing or ordering a F&D book on tuesday

Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

I found a PDF with some of the changes between the beta versions.  Hopefully, it will be enough.

The problem is that Force and Destiny introduces a new talent system for Force Talents in Force Powers, so it's not a concept replicated in the other books.  There are places to find PDFs of the beta versions.  You should grab them to at least take a look at how the mechanic works.

Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

Do you have to pick a force sensitive class to be able to use force powers? OR could a smuggler be a force user?

Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

Nope.  Has to be a Force Sensitive class.  I read the Forums just now to make sure.

EDIT: You could take the Exile or the other one from the base books under the Force section if you wanted.  They start with Force 1.  They'd count.  Other than that, just take a class from the FaD book.  It's easier.

Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

You have to have a force sensitive specialization, at least. If you don't mind throwing necessary the XP at it, you could start with a smuggler and buy into one of those specs. Whether that would fit the theme of this game proposal though...

Re: Star Wars: Force and Destiny

In order to explain that better, if you were a Smuggler and took another Specialization in a Force Sensitive class (like the ones in FaD or the two I mentioned from the base book), you would then have Force Rating 1 and would be Force Sensitive and could use Force Powers.

Awesome, we should be doing characters for the next week or so as definite players join up, so you can join up and start thinking up a general concept, then just fill out your character sheet once you get the book.

Blitz, looks like you've got a ton of support here for the game.  I'm pretty sure it's official that you've got interest in it.  We should probably stop soon before the mods come with their bats and close the thread.  xD

In reply to AlexDemille (msg # 23):

I'd like to keep to the original concept, though down the road I do plan on doing another non-Force game- I started out on here with an Edge game.

To all interested players,  go ahead and send me a private message in the game thread and we can start getting things set-up. I'll have a RTJ post up in a few minutes.

Wow, this exploded. Yeah, I have the updates, though I got them towards the end of the cycle so I'm sure I've missed a ton of changes. Look forward to sending an RTJ whenever there's a thread up!
