Steamplanepunkscape

Dusting off an old concept I was working on, and doing an interest check:

Steamplanepunkscape.  The characters would all be “customer service employees” of the the Great Transplanar Railroad, a bizarre magical railroad built by a group of Dwarves and Gnomes who inadvertently discovered Technomagy (or TechGnomagy, as the Gnomes call it) and are now busily and happily changing the way the Multiverse has worked for untold eons.   Complications ensue, the players are tasked with a variety of often peculiar goals by their employers.  The “universe” would be a Planescape universe- but I would probably not use the DnD system  (Any of them!).  It would be designed with a lighthearted approach, not so serious.  More fun, less destruction.

Re: Steamplanepunkscape

Sounds like fun. What kinds of service employees do you have in mind? Maintenance? Travel agents? Maids? Or am I on the wrong train of thought? :)

For the most part, the very odd problems, issues, concerns etc that the weird inhabitants of the multiverse have.  The Dwarves and Gnomes are much too technical minded to deal with all that.  They make the system work.  But they need others to deal with customers.

Anything from doing favors for important "VIP" passengers," getting involved in the negotiations for a new station, to evicting stowaways to retrieving lost but sentient luggage.

Or merely tending the bar car and helping them with their personal problems.  You'd be amazed what sort of neuroses and anxieties a modron could have.

Re: Steamplanepunkscape

Seems like a moderate point GURPS game would be good, although probaby Fate Core as well.

Re: Steamplanepunkscape

I would play this if it were GURPS, but I like the idea and I would be open to other systems.

Re: Steamplanepunkscape

Looking through some of the "light" rule systems out there, I think I am settling on Fate-Core for this.  Quick, simple, and readily and freely available to all that need it.

I am in the process of writing some stuff.

Soon.. soon.

There will be Gnomes, Steam Trains, and Waffles.

Re: Steamplanepunkscape

Look for the add to appear in Players Wanted within the next couple of days!

The Game is called The Great Transplanar Railroad, and it will use a modified Window system.
