I’m torn…
My original idea was for a game set in the New Sith Wars. The Republic is on the defensive, having abandoned the Outer, Mid-Rim, parts of the Expansion Region to the Sith. The Sith themselves have reformed under a quasi-feudal culture that celebrated power and conquest. The obvious focus would be on Jedi heading out on their own to take the fight to the Sith. Non-Force characters would definitely be allowed. Basically, a Rebellion fight with Sith, lightsabers and so on.
Here is a summary of the setting…

But, as I was reading old material I had worked on, I did revive a hankering for a good ol’ straight Edge of Empire game. Set in the Elrood/Minos sectors, where the characters would be mercenaries, smugglers, bounty hunters, or just simple traders trying to survive amidst Imperial entanglements, crime lords, and other threats in the galaxy. Edge of Empire and supplements only, no Force-Users period. While the Rebellion may be around and offering jobs, it would not be the focus of this game.
The second campaign would be for folks who are interested in the nuts and bolts of surviving on the Rim. It would definitely feature cinematic adventure but we would also be using the hacked Trading/Smuggling rules from Tramp Freighters and the crew would have to keep their ship in repair. Sort of a Star Wars/Firefly, a definitely different feel than most of FFG Star Wars games out there. The Minos/Elrood sectors are both far enough away that we can play with the published material and add much of our own.
A third idea, to touch on all the fun that Star Wars could produce would be during the New Republic with a strong Imperial Remnant and lots of independent systems in between. The war to throw out the Empire lasted longer and Thrawn’s push was more successful than canon. The drive out of the Deep Core resulted in an influx of Dark Side force-users who went rogue or stayed with the Imperials. The characters would be either independent mercenaries/trouble-shooters or agents of the New Republic.
This campaign is superficially similar to the New Sith Wars and features all three corebooks. Basically, an excuse to go out and get into trouble without an overly victorious New Republic, or a weak Imperial enemy. The systems in conflict are struggling to stay alive and all factions are stretched thin.
The characters are independents, New Republic trouble-shooters, New Republic privateers (for those who like space battles) or even just pirates.
So, I can’t decide… what sounds interesting to folks?
