1e AD&D, 1e GW, SW WEG or FASERIP?

I'm thinking of starting up a new game, here's the ones I'm considering:

1e AD&D. I'd want to start at least at 3rd level. I'm fine with starting higher too if for a specific module. I'm also considering just running a random dungeon sort of game. I'm not interested in any mega-dungeons though. Houserules I'd like to try, but I'm still working on: https://docs.google.com/docume...-f4/edit?usp=sharing

1e Gamma World. I just ran MF Legion of Gold on Roll20, which went well, but it got me hankering for the original.

Star Wars WEG or a clone such as Mini 6? (though I'd have to get the rules and figure them out)

FASERIP the marvel supers RPG clone (again, have to get the rules and figure them out - i'm very familiar with Champions but find the rule system too cumbersome)

If you're interested in playing any of those, post which most interests you, if you'd play any of the others, and if you've any modules or styles you'd like to try.

1e AD&D would be awesome!

I have been dying to play through GDQ 1-7 (Queen of the Spiders supermodule) for quite a while now.

I'd love to play some FASERIP. The rules are free, and I have a lot of experience with them, if you need some help walking through them.

Re: 1e AD&D, 1e GW, SW WEG or FASERIP?

There's more interest in FASERIP, and that should be easier to run something with less people if necessary, since I only got 2 people interested, so I'll go with that.  I'm reading through it now, seems pretty straight forward.  I have played Marvel Heroes about 25 years ago too :)

Truemane, are there any good free starting modules for it?

I'm sure I can always improvise something after characters are made if not.

Guess you can use the original Marvel modules if you still have them.

Right. Wasn't sure whether this one was legal.

It looks like these are for specific Marvel characters to play though.  Would people want to be playing marvel characters in the marvel universe?  Or their own characters in some alternate super-hero & villain infested one?

Someone mentioned FASERIP? That'd be awesome! And 1/2 the fun of FASERIP is making your own character! :)

Any hope that you will use deterministic character generation for FASERIP, rather than random character generation?  :)

Re: 1e AD&D, 1e GW, SW WEG or FASERIP?

While I find the point based system interesting, I've always found the random route to be the enjoyable part and finding a way to put the character together from it's random parts to be fun. I would suggest allowing multiple tries and taking the one that suits you though. Doing just a single one can lead to some truly awful character that aunt May could defeat so I'd advice against a single chance random character.

One of my favorite random characters was Aerosol Girl, who had a huge amount of low level gas [spray] powers from her tech gauntlets. She came out like a bat-girl type character organically which made me like her more than if I'd have planned her.

Re: 1e AD&D, 1e GW, SW WEG or FASERIP?

Cool, I'd rather have the alternate world.

I like the idea of random, If everyone makes 3 and keeps one, I can use the rejects for villains!

If I wanted to run with points, I'd just use Champions, as I'm very familiar with it.

I don't have a problem with someone making a specific character if they've got their heart set on it though, say they want to play alternate spider-man or whatever, as long as the power level is reasonable and could have been gotten with random rolling (i.e. choose your rolls), If it seems too powerful compared to the random characters I'll make changes to it's power, perhaps restrict to +2 Ranks at most for anything.

I'm about halfway through the book now, making a character I'll use as a villain to see how it's done.

I endorse the alternate world/setting and unique characters.  Part of the beauty of that system was how flexible it was at doing that.

FASERIP is a great system. Really like the superheroes and it's fun not too crunchy.

The game is created, but it's against the rules to advertise it in this forum or rmail the people who were interested, so hopefully you'll be able to find it.

You can post a link to it here and rmail the interested people. Both are perfectly kosher. Once you link the game they will lock the thread but you can most certainly link it.
