WH40K Only War: Science for the Science God!

Ondergang, Geheimenag System, Segmentum Pacificus

Classification: Death World (Former designate Forge World - changed following the Nightfall Incident* of 823.M38)

Geheimenag System is a trinary system consisting of a blue dwarf and two red stars. One of the red stars and the blue dwarf forming a physical binary with the third star a distant red eye glaring down upon the system. The three stars collectively prevent night from falling across Ondergang and it's sister bodies. Once every seven years the blue dwarf will eclipse the red star to create the appearance of a great eye staring from the heavens. Until the Nightfall Incident Ondergang's moon sheltered it providing night for a single day every Imperial week. After the Nightfall Incident night no longer falls on Ondergang.

The surface of the world is a ruined cyclopean maze of rusting, battered industrial complexes and destructive volcanic glass spewing windstorms beneath a violet sky. Abyssal quarries cut into the rock till lava wells up from the wounds - the machinery meant to harvest the power released either destroyed, forgotten, or malfunctioning. The great factories house cities of survivors armed with the misused tools of the world's past. Techno-barbarian clans war for control of the secrets buried in the rotting corpses of the great workshop-fortresses.

In 943.M41 the Imperial Guard sat it's sights upon Ondergang and descended to bring the warring clans back to the Imperium. Early reports from the Guard indicated significant archeotech presence in full or damaged form. Due to the nature of the planet's history and considering the factor of Imperial Guard lack of expertise in such matters a unit was formed to investigate the truth of these reports and recover them for Forge World Galleus.

Initial Mission: Install Staging and Recovery Area
Primary Mission: Recover Archeotech for Forge World Galleus

OK so about the game, it will be using the Only War rule set and the player regiment will be pure Adeptus Mechanicus. Thanks to the two supplements there are a ton of Tech-Priest class options now.

The game will not be purely combat, there will be exploration, investigation, obviously combat, and some politics.

Thoughts? Comments? interest?

I feel like I should chime in since the world, the regiment, and some story ideas rattled out of my sleep deprived brain pan. The inspirations for the game came from Mad Max Fury Road, Borderlands, Fallout, and more. Not in the tone necessarily. It's a serious game and setting but one full of explosion ridden vehicle chases through ruined cities and blasted wastelands. Bizarre archeotech and mutated animals... crazy xeno experiments amid an Imperial war. Investigations, hunts, roleplaying, explosions, combat, explosions, cool weaponry, explosions, Cultus Mechanus, explosions, crazy vehicles, explosions, masked crazed bandits, and more explosions.

Just when I buried my copy of Lathe Worlds, when is this game happening it just might be one of the coolest concepts for 40k that I have seen in a while.  Although all Tech-Priests this could get a little strange, I think some normals, even if they are NPC's would be interesting, say some Penal stuck with the regiment or a demoted Inquisitor in charge, or even one or two PC's.  Tech Priests all together without any normals might get a bit stale.  The basic idea is wonderful though.

It's not all Tech-Priests. Normal Guardsman specialties are in play but they will have basic Mechanus traits. Implants, Tech Lore, and the like. Enginseer will be available for a full Tech-Priest. Everyone else is a soldier raised and trained by the Adeptus Mechanus. So plenty of room for different specialties and the like.
