DnD 5th Edition: Several Ideas
So after the disappearance of the player in my Solo 5th edition game, I find myself with time and the desire for another 5th edition game. I have many ideas, most of which I've tried to set up as being able to easily accommodate player dropouts and slowdowns without compromising the story.
Here are my random campaign ideas:
1. The Empire of the Lotus: A game in the vein of the Jade Empire game, Legend of the Five Rings and the old Oriental Adventures sourcebook. Characters would be sworn warriors of the Lotus Emperor, and would embark on various missions throughout the empire. Weapons and armor would be reskinned to their Asian counterparts (the DM's guide has info on this). Classes and races could be reskinned as well.
2. The Order of the Crimson Talon: PCs would be members of an organization inspired by the Zhentarim of the Forgotten Realms. In short, the PCs would be members of an 'evil' organization, working to bring about the rise of some sort of forbidden being so they could obtain great power. This will probably be set in an original fantasy setting, or one that is homebrewed by the players through the course of the game.
3. Pirates of the Broken Sea: This is a reboot of a game I once ran with Pathfinder. Characters would be members of a pirate crew, embarking on various pirate-themed adventures. This would use the Renaissance-era gunpowder rules from the DM's guide. It would be largely sandbox, with a great ocean environment open to the players. The captain would be an NPC at first, but decisions about where to sail and such would be decided OOC by the players.
4. Of Spells and Stars: This is another reboot of a game I did with 4th edition, but it was just too clunky. 5th edition is faster and easier, and might suit it a bit better. Inspired a bit by Planescape, Shadowrun, the Fate Aether Sea book and the Dragonstar setting. It would be science-fantasy in the extreme: players would fly across the stars in a magically powered ship, and would engage in science fantasy swashbuckling adventures. They might do a 'dungeon delve' in an ancient space station, storm the battlecruiser of a necromancer, prevent a stellar dragon from consuming a star and save dwarven asteroid miners from drow space pirates. This one might be a little zany and gonzo. Think Guardians of the Galaxy mixed with more traditional fantasy elements. This one would allow for lots of reskinning, and I might allow some of the firearm rules from the DM guide.
Any of these ideas appeal to anyone?
