DND 5e what are you looking for?

So the demand for DND 5e is really night right now on rpol. So what are interested parties really looking for?

Post your ideal 5e game concept, scenario, adventure or at least the one that is missing the most.

Re: DND 5e what are you looking for?

In the simplest terms: something other than the usual Forgotten Realms-esque or Tolkienesque fantasy most common to DnD. Something in the vein of Dark Sun, or steampunk, or Age of Sail pirates, or something like the old Oriental Adventures or anything that isn't the same old tired fantasy. It has its appeal (my in person game is in a typical fantasy setting) but it'd be fun to see 5e used with other, atypical settings.

Kind of a shot in the dark considering I have no idea how much you know of the series, but it'd be pretty epic if somebody could make a DnD game that takes place in the Thomas Covenant universe. If you can't tell by my username, I at the very least would be into this idea. :)

Re: DND 5e what are you looking for?

As I am getting back into D&D after a 20 yr hiatus, I would like to see a game where I can play with mechanics.  Then setting does not matter, The Thomas Covenant setting, it has been almost 30 years since I read the double trilogy, but could prove interesting.  I am impartial to the setting, but fantasy is my preferred genre.

It's actually a triple trilogy now. Well, the third one is technically a quadrilogy.

In reply to Covenant (msg # 5):

Oh god!!  I am not sure if I could do 4 more books, I found them to be such a dry read.  The story was good enough to make me finish reading it, but it was still dry.

i like all these ideas, especially the more outre setting that might let us play with tweaking / re-skinning things a little bit. i'd like to try putting 5e through its paces some.

Re: DND 5e what are you looking for?

I'd be up for a Dark Sun style game, though it might be hard without psionic power sources.

The DMG has options for high tech stuff. Would you be willing to consider a Dragonstar-style game? I've always wanted to play one, but never had the chance.

Re: DND 5e what are you looking for?

I agree that a more out of the box game would be ideal.

In reply to JxJxA (msg # 8):

Oh, yeah. Dragonstar would be awesome. One of my favorite settings.

Re: DND 5e what are you looking for?

Dragonstar is a science fantasy setting using d20 material. The Dragon Empire rules a galactic empire with ten dragon houses corresponding to the five chromatic and five metallic dragon colors. The various d20 races, including humans, halflings, elves, dwarves, half-orcs, et cetera, can be found across the varied worlds of the empire. Science fiction technology is merged with magic, so you have machine guns mixing happily with wands and so forth.

The product website is still up, though they've stopped supporting it: https://www.fantasyflightgames...products/dragonstar/
