IC: Aberrant

I decided a while ago that I wanted to play Aberrant, and my friend Covenant said hosting it here would be smart, so who feels up for a game. I'm relatively new to the play by post system but have lurked on a few games and have a decent understanding of it. For those who don't know Aberrant is a White-Wolf published game and uses the good old Storyteller system. We're going to start off around Project Utopia, but I can adapt depending on which direction the characters decide to go. If anybody who is interested hasn't played a Storyteller game yet, I can help walk you through character creation.

Re: IC: Aberrant

Depending on your writeup, I would probably be interested.  Aberrant was always a fun system, though I only really played it once.

Re: IC: Aberrant

Oh yes please! I'm interested in a relatively 'light' Team Tomorrow game and am very familiar with the lore of the setting. :)

Re: IC: Aberrant

There are two ideas I had for the game, figuring out the flaw with Utopia and exposing it, or alternatively working for them loyally and gaining fame, wealth, and power. It is up to the characters to decide which way they go however. If we get a few more interested players I'll put up an ad and we'll see how many people we can get, im shooting for around 4-6 players.

I'm cool with this idea but I do like the notion that we can stop/change the timeline for the better, so maybe a combo of the two? (I have a telepath/information manipulator who was designed for a similar campaign and I never got to play her).

The aforementioned Covenant here. I'll be playing as well when/if this gets off the ground, just so you all know. :)

Re: IC: Aberrant

I have been looking for an active (and open) ST Aberrant game for a long time, so definitely count me in as interested.  ;)

As for the two options, it might be cool to start off as Loyal Utopia members who gain fame & fortune from "playing by the rules" and supporting the Status Quo ("drinking the cool aid" of Project Utopia).  And then, perhaps as the game unfolds, the PCs can begin to pick up on, learn about, or discover clues and rumors than begin to hint at the "dark underside" of Project Utopia ("something is rotten in the state of Denmark/Utopia").

Of course there the PCs are presented with the tricky dilemma of whether to risk everything (all their worldly goods and reputation) by pursuing the dark rumors of a hidden agenda and trying to expose what is found, or deciding to continue to play along because thus far nothing bad has happened to them (or perhaps even try to leverage the knowledge for a better position within Utopia).

As for working for Utopia as loyal members, it could be interesting trying a Team Tomorrow (or even a Teen Tomorrow from the Player's Guide) type game.

Re: IC: Aberrant

I would be interested in any of the proposed ideas but I find myself leaning towards the Team Tomorrow gain fortune and fame angle. I've always wanted but have never gotten to play the super celebrity.

Re: IC: Aberrant

What I like about Aberrant is that you can steer your own character fate the way you want.

I am all in favor as starting as a group of TM2 and as ugly truths raise their head people decide what to do, turn underground, keep the loyal facade or even join Divas Mal :)

I'd love to be part of such a game :)

Re: IC: Aberrant

I've never played Aberrant, but have always been interested in doing so.  I like the idea of a mix of the two ideas, possibly with an added twist of half the Team sticking with being loyal, while the other half wanting to investigate the dark secrets further.

Re: IC: Aberrant

I'm kind of ambivalent about the Team Tomorrow idea, but I do like the idea of discovering Project Utopia's secrets.

Re: IC: Aberrant

I would like to give an apology right now to start off. I cannot host my game of aberrant at this given time. Some things have come up in my life that demand my attention, so my game will happen in the future, just not very soon.
