IC: undecided D&D 5e game

I will be starting a new 5e game on RPOL sometime in the next couple weeks. I haven't decided on a theme or story yet, however. Since I didn't have anything specific in mind I thought I would put it to the community to see what people were most interested in. Here are a few general themes/ideas I'm up to running but I am also happy to entertain suggestions:

1) A high seas adventure centered around a rogue fleet of pirates trying to start a war between rival kingdoms and the single privateer vessel trying to stop them.
2) A group of explorers traversing into a dark jungle looking for the remnants of a long lost civilization with ties to a supposedly dead god.
3) A sandbox game set just after the conclusion of a massive century long war following a group of misfit former soldiers trying to build a place for themselves in a world that is struggling to figure out how to maintain a new and grudging peace.
4) A group of disparate souls found guilty of crimes against the Empire (some framed or wrongfully accused, some guilty but justified, others remorseful and looking to turn their lives around), must band together to escape their confinement and find a way to expose a traitor looking to lead a coup against the rightful heir to the throne.

Let me know which idea you're most interested in. Or if you have a different idea for a 5e game you'd like to play instead feel free to post that instead. Looking forward to hearing what kind of 5e game everyone wants to play.

I'd be interested in all, particularly the first one.

Re: IC: undecided D&D 5e game

These all sound good, especially the jungle expedition!

I'd vote in order, 2, 1, 3, 4.

Re: IC: undecided D&D 5e game

all of them sound great (4, 3, 2, 1, in order of preference).

Specifically:

#4 - sounds like there are tremendous opportunities for intrigue and subterfuge. Built in reasons for the party to work together.
#3 - Party cohesion might be an issue, but I like the 'choose your own direction' of the setting.
#2 - Again, clear, focused, party goal coupled with some good old fashioned adventuring. Love it.
#1 - One of my favorite themes. I've been working on finishing a pirate themed setting I started in 4e. A great deal hinges on how you intend to run ship vs ship combat.

Re: IC: undecided D&D 5e game

i'll throw in on the bandwagon, a sound pretty cool, #4 and 3 sound the most unique and interesting, haven't seen games like that around here, but all sounds cool.

Re: IC: undecided D&D 5e game

I've been trying to find a 5e game that doesn't just fade for a while now. In no particular order I'd say 1 or 2 would be my preferred.

Re: IC: undecided D&D 5e game

I have a soft spot for high seas adventure, though all sound fun. I'd love to play in a Jungle game; would it have a bit of a pulp adventure flavor?

Some interest, hope it isn't that hard to get in. (Preference for 4,3,1,2 in that order)

Re: IC: undecided D&D 5e game

2, 4, 3. I'd be interested in a game with those premises. I'm not NEW to 5E, but I haven't had anything long with it, and am still learning, but I'm a veteran DnD player who has 3 editions under my belt.
