I.C. Old World of Darkness Mage or Dark Ages Vampire

Seeing if there is any interest in a Mage the Ascension first edition game or a larger game of Dark Ages inquisitor v.s. Dark Ages Vampire. Don't know if anyone plays either system anymore but I really would like to run Mage first edition. The Dark Ages game would need a co Gm I am not a vampire freak fan like a lot of players here understand the method far more than my modest self:) Any ideas are gladly welcome.

In reply to modestmouse (msg # 1):

I love Mage: the Ascension, but why first edition rather than second or revised?

Re: I.C. Old World of Darkness Mage or Dark Ages Vampire

I just have a penchant for the original, and it would have a lot of home brew rules, or ommssions of sorts to keep the game moving faster. Less tests, not free form but allowing characters to do more what they want than constant die rolling if that makes sense, I wouldn't be totally against revised though.

Mage would be more a setting than rule sticking on exact rules for rotes, but this depends on the Mage. Also the setting I have in mind is a dystopian future where the technocracy has all but taken over except for slumdog areas. Something like William Gibson meets Wind Up Girl, I want the players to build the world of a future they want to see, using a lot of Monte Cooks Numera world building prelude.

And most important a game the PLAYERS  want to be a part of I would like to have Mages tell me what kind of chronicle they want to see, and have in depth preludes I don't want some cookie cutter tropes or some pre prepared generic, something that can grow. I like the input and will think about the revised it seems to be the to, right now I only have first edition books and I don't like the storyline of later versions, I want an original story not White Wolf apocalypse.

One a phone right now so I hope that makes sense I hate posting on phones:) thanks for interest and advice keep it coming. Also even though it is world of darkness this game would focus on ascension in a positive light even though transformation is painful!

Re: I.C. Old World of Darkness Mage or Dark Ages Vampire

Well, if you're willing to go to Revised rules, I have plenty of ideas for that kind of dystopian future setting. I just didn't like the First Edition rules when they came out—I seem to recall there was a heavy emphasis on Node raiding?—and I don't have access to them any more. I hate the metaplot, if you kill it I'll help bury it, but I think the revised rules do a much better job.

Heck, if the game starts slowly enough M20 might come out, and so far the 20th anniversary editions have been great IMO.

Re: I.C. Old World of Darkness Mage or Dark Ages Vampire

I don't want to dally around but I have had plenty of games start far too soon, plus players that stick around for the beginning usually stay. I am thinking it is around 2075 or even 2020 but something like America and China and IKEA and APPLE unite as a corp.the world, I want pcs to build the tech they want to see, lots of sons of ether as maybe they were the ones that survived in greatest numbers although the real revolution is from dream speakers and more earth caring sphere lovers. Not that it is a granola rebel alliance, just a call back to simplistic ideals of human connection. Faith over knowledge kind of thing.

I would like a co Gm that was a pc as well if anyone is interested let me know two brains are better than one, don't worry I like the grunt work and can post often, more a rules overseer so I don't miss anything obvious.

I could do that. I've run Ascension for years and years and more years yet.

Re: I.C. Old World of Darkness Mage or Dark Ages Vampire

Will keep this thread as a list to get back to any players that wish to play in either game. One will be for Mage the other for Vampire/Inquisitor Dark Ages.  I thank you for the interest feel free to post also what you would like to see in the game, not that it will happen but always taken into consideration!
