Does anyone have experience with running the Kingmaker Adventure Path in PbP?

One of the major aspects of the game is that it jumps years between modules. I wonder if anyone has ran this successfully and if so, how did you handle the massive time gaps?

It helps to implement the kingdom building rules and supliment with information on the regions your in by adding side adventures. Even Random events during certain fazes can help to create a small intrique subplot.
